We have a green belt behind our house so we tend to get a lot of bugs & other critters around here. I keep a pretty clean room but I do have storage behind the drawers on my bed.

Lately I have been seeing a lot of spiders. I killed a little one some days ago but didn’t think too much of it. Just the other day, there was a brown recluse crawling on my bed!! So scary to see that, it was a good size. I killed it & then decided to take everything out from under my bed which actually isn’t much & just shake it out & vacuum. I ended up killing 2 more tiny spiders, not brown recluse though, thank goodness!

Just now I found another spider in my bathroom also a decent size. My dad told me to sprinkle diatamaceous earth in my room maybe just under my bed? I read up that it’s used for cattle in their feed & sometimes given to rabbits in their food as well I think it said to rid them of any pests or something. I just want to double check this stuff is safe for them? Or if there are any other pesticides I can use around my rabbits?

We do have a bug company we pay for & usually they treat the outdoors as well as the indoors. They’ve treated my room with the bunnies before when I wasn’t home & I actually didn’t know till I got home. The bunnies were fine though but ever since, I have not had them treat my room but they did say after the stuff they treat with is dry, it’s not harmful to pets. What is everyone’s thoughts on this? I have diatamaceous earth & if it’s safe, I can use that for now. & if the bug company I have is safe after it’s dry, maybe I will just start taking the pets out of the room while they spray & put them back once it’s dry. I just can’t have all these spiders keep showing up.

Here is a previous thread that explains it (please do not reply):

I think the general consensus is that it is safe to use around rabbits(as long as they don’t have direct access to it) but not on them.
