hello all, i am a mom to 2 teens and 3 fur babies lol A chihuahua, a cat, and now a loinhead rabbit.  . my son purchased our newest family member Loki near Easter. i new nothing about rabbits before this and have been researching ever since. after doing research i sorely wish we had adopted. my son had his first job and i was so proud of him for doing so well in school as well that i gave in, i don’t regret Loki thou he is the funniest rabbit.  but you live and learn the next time we will adopt. anyway i posted before but never introduced myself in here. i had asked how to bond with the rabbit in another thread thanks for all the info btw its going well Loki who is vary attached to my son was not a fan of myself or my daughter . but with his new cage set up (i found a instruction on how to make a bunny condo with wire storage cubes) he is getting much better with myself and my daughter we can pet him now and i pop in and chat with him every day, he will take a treat from my hand etc etc. our latest dilemma has been how to keep him from flipping his water and food dishes, i bought him porcelain dishes yesterday so we will see how that goes today. i am constantly trying to find new ways to keep him occupied he is a very smart little guy and is hyper but i found that do it your self toy thread and he has been appreciating my efforts lol. he doesn’t seem to like having anything but floor for the bottom of his encloser he does well potty training so i wonder is this ok? i had first put  a tarp ( he hated it) , then a blanket, (he hated it) now he just has my floor and seems ok but i feel like i should have something else down there anyway here are a couple pictures of him the first one is more resent the second with the dog is when we first got him, he was a bit thin then but he has filled out a bit since

Welcome! I remember your post about him not being very approachable for you and your daughter, so I am glad to hear things have been improving. What kind of flooring is your floor? Pippin has a coroplast bottom on his cage that has some bathtub stickers for traction. He seems pretty happy with it. When I tried to put down a towel he pushed it into the corner and ignored it. He does have a grass mat in one corner because he was picking at the stickers back there, and he really likes that but he still usually sleeps on the plastic part. The upper shelves are covered with a thick shelf liner which he also seems to like and has a little more grip. You could try carpet squares or if you’re worried about your floor something more water resistant, like a shower curtain. Lots of options!

i just have hardwood floors  , i am not terribly worried about the floor right now he has been great about going potty where he is suppose to , but maybe i will take a ride to lowes and see what options i can find. i am gearing up to try to clip his nails soon that has me worried lol i clip my cats (she is a senior and can’t keep them up herself anymore) and my chihuahua’s ( he is sooooo not a fan) so i am hoping i can do loki’s as well

Hi hrmom26, congrats on your new bunny, he’s a handsome chap – and I love the name

You mentioned gearing up to clipping his nails, have you seen this video? I thought it might help. I haven’t tried it yet ’cause the vet did his nails when I took him for a pre-neuter check-up, but I’ve seen the technique referred to on hear, so I’m assuming other people have had some luck with it.
