Is is OK to run a paddle fan (ceiling fan) in our bunny room? I ran it on low today but have cut it up to medium at times. Is this OK?

We run our a/c all the time in the Summer. When it’s 95 degrees outside (heat index 102, ugh), we’re lucky if our upstairs only gets to 70 or 72 but it stays so humid. When it’s this hot and humid my buns lay around and don’t nom on hay as much and drink less. (Buns are upstairs)

        Thanks!

I always ran my ceiling fans on high and never had a problem. It’s not like it’s a fan pointed straight at them, it’s moving the air through the whole room. In OKC, we had to do whatever we could to keep the house cool-ish, especially since our ac was atrocious (it was never below 80 in our house in the summer). This meant the ceiling fans on high and and several fans in every room (our electric bill was a nightmare!). I just made sure none were to close to the rabbits or pointing straight at them, and it was fine.

Good to know. With the ceiling fan on medium, a tiny bit of fur will blow a little if they lay in the right spot. I know they don’t mind it (they will sit directly behind the shop vac where it blows hard enough to lift their ears!). I just wanted to make sure the ceiling fan wasn’t going to make them sick. Thanks!

Yea I wouldn’t worry about blowing down on them from that. Have you tried reversing the fan? Pulling air up to the ceiling? It may help pull a little more cooler air from downstairs.

They should be ok. I leave the fans on, and when it’s hot, I think the bunnies appreciate them. I don’t think it could hurt as long as they aren’t wet, and they can get away from.the breeze.

I think bunnies like fans. When it’s really hot, since we don’t have a/c in the bunny room, only the adjacent living room, I put a big stand up fan on in there for them and they even have clip on condo (made for dog kennels) fans that I put on their condo doors. Just make sure bunny has a box or hide place they can go to get away from the “wind” if they so choose.

I always run fans – it helps circulate the air. It definitely won’t make them sick – just make sure it’s dusted LOL.

Bunnies are much more bothered by heat than cold.

I always run our fans, only putting on the A/C when it hits above 30 degrees and the humidity is so bad you can’t sit and type on the computer without sweating. And even then I put it on for the dog’s and Henry (that’s what I tell the hubby – our electricity bills are ridiculous (outrageous!) here too mossling!).
And I like the fan’s on to circulate the air as well as cooling down the room (I get caught out every summer when I first turn them on Sarita – dust (and now bunny FLUFF!) being flung in every direction, bugga!) LOL.

PS – How does bunny fluff get on my ceiling fan’s over winter???? Dam bunny – messing up my house!

Edit to ADD – Pleased you said ceiling fan…… Paddle fan – HUH?

The fan blades are shaped like paddles! Son and I both have allergies so I can’t remember the last time I left my windows open. I get the bunny fluff — with three buns and the dog, we’re having to change our heat pump filters every other month to keep the coils from freezing up from lack of airflow.

It’s so humid right now. Got to work this morning, temp in my office was 68 degrees, humidity % was 67. Called the A/C guys right away. By afternoon it would have been raining inside the building!

My boys LOVE standing in front of a fan. I will put a box fan on the ground and not direct it at them, but they will still go right up to it and flop. It really depends on whether the bunny likes it or not I suppose.
