I have been a bunny owner for 10 months now. I got Cotton in August at a pet store (passed away Dec 17th) Then we got Nutmeg a week after Cotton from a friend of the family. They had her 2 years and just couldn’t take care of her anymore. She was shy at first and would hide in her house or under chair and table when out of cage. Now she loves to hop around living room and being petted. But still gets scared to go anywhere else in house. And afraid of noises like music playing. Still don’t know what kind of bunny she is. Now we have Lilly who is 1 years old and got her from a friend who had 2 other rabbits and just couldn’t take care of all 3 cause she just had a baby. Lilly is cute but shy also and does this loud noise thing when you pet her. I don’t know if its her screaming in fear or purring. She isn’t fixed yet. But will when we get the money. I don’t know what else to say so ask questions if you want. 🙂

          Hi Nutlilly, welcome to BB.

Would love to see pictures of your bunny girls sometime.

These 2 sounds are very different. I think you’d know the scream if you heard it. It would probably send chills up your spine.
The purr rabbits do is just clicking their teeth together quietly. Mine seem to do 3 clicks-pause-3 clicks and so on.

Is the sound Liily does more like a squwaking perhaps?
When I bought my rabbit Maple home she did very loud noises like that whenever I approached or touched her. It turned out she was pregnant. She stopped doing it after she had the babies. So it was due to hormones & fear.

How long have you had Lilly? Longer then a month? I’m just wondering about the possibility if pregnancy (or even false pregnancy).
That aside, she could just be a very vocal rabbit. Some are. : )

It could be a squeaking sound. I really don’t know the sounds of rabbits yet. Nutmeg doesn’t make any sounds at all. We have had Lilly for over a month now. The other 2 rabbits she was around were males, but I think they were fixed.
Would love to share pictures, but don’t know how to from phone.

                  Welcome!

Pippin makes squeaking noises. I’ve noticed it most when I was trying to clip his nails, so I thought it was a fear thing, but in the past couple weeks I’ve noticed he actually does it pretty frequently. It’s just quiet enough that I have to be close enough to hear it. I think it is just a noise he makes when he is breathing sometimes.

                  Are Lilly and Nutmeg bonded?

No we tried, but they fight and Nutmeg just runs and hides back in her cage. We might try again when we move that way neither has marked their spots.
