I received some boxes of hay today, shipped via fedex. The hay is shipped in plastic bags inside cardboard boxes. When I got home from work, I noticed that two of the boxes had motor oil or motor grease on them. The oil/grease had soaked into one spot on one box and a few places on the bottom edges of the other box. Not puddled, but I could see where the box absorbed the oil/grease. None of the stuff got on the hay and didn’t see any on the plastic bag. Smelled like hay inside the box. We transferred the bags to other cardboard boxes.

Does it sound like the hay is OK yo store and feed my bunnies?

I would say it’s probably ok, as long as you see no indication of grease on the bag or hay. If you want to, you can remove the hay near the grease spots, but that’s probably not necessary.

            Doesn’t that make you angry!
Yep, I agree with LEL – sounds like it should be all good thanks to being stored in a plastic bag first. But I’d let FedEx know and see if they offer any compensation for your irritation and concern, or at the very least an apology. Yer, good luck with that……

Yep, it should be fine as long as the oil/grease didn’t get into the hay itself
