So today I went took my bunny, Dottie, to get spayed. After waiting for months and shopping around I finally found a place that fit my budget and that I felt confident with their skills. Since it was an hour away, when I dropped her off I asked the tech to give me a call or text an hour before they wanted me to pick her up so they wouldn’t be waiting around for me. I drove home nervous and sad (I felt like I was abandoning her) to wait for them to let me know she was ready.

Hours later I finally get the text…

“Your bunny is ready to be picked up. Bunny is a boy.”

Lol so now Dottie needs a new name and I need to change my username!

So far the suggestions include Dotson, George, Gus, Dexter and Monty.

Just wanted to share the bunny formerly known as Dottie’s little surprise with everyone!

How about Donny, that way it’s not to confusing for him, short for Donald (World Ruler) or Donatello or Donagh (Brown Warrier/Irish) or Donati (Given by God) or Donte (enduring)

And don’t feel bad. My recently passed 14 yr old cat started life as Jenny Anymouse and after her neuter continued on as Jebediah… A similar phone conversation to your text preceeded.

I can’t change your user name (what you sign in with), but I can change your display name (how you are seen in the forum), however, we rarely do this because it can be so confusing. Since you are new and haven’t posted that much, then I can change it for you. (just message me when you are ready).

                  It’s a BOY! Congratulations!

Are you sure you want to ask us BBer’s for help with naming your ‘boy’ bunny??? Have you read tanlover’s thread, ha ha ha ha – it has caused nothing but conflict between us (all good fun and very funny!), LOL!

Um, I’m one for naming my pets regardless of sex – I had Henry picked out for my bunny, not a boy – so he would have been called Henry even if he was a girl….. So I’d stick with Dottie, maybe shorten it to Dot??? But if you really want to change his name, I vote for George! I’m fond of the name George cause that’s my dog’s name – and she’s a GIRL! Ha ha ha ha….. Good luck Liz, cheers.

                          Dotson sounds kinda cute. ^_^

I tried googling it and there are some strange search results. Apparently this is how people think dachshund is pronounced/spelled. LOL

LBJ10- THAT IS ONE OF MY PET PEEVES LOL! When people say dashound(dash-hound), Dotson, or some other miss pronounced name. I have a Mini Dachshund so when people go “Oh look at the dashound!” I twitch a little LOL!

Really? People say “dash”? Weird. I have a standard dachshund and I’ve never heard anyone say “dash hound”. That’s so funny!

I like Dotson too. That way you can still call him Dottie for short.
