My Charlie boy went into GI stasis for a day and had really bad gas to boot. He didn’t run to his greens as usual, and no poops in his box. I noticed the early signs and massaged his tummy and looked up the youtube video on how to do this in the “How to” series with Amy Sedaris and a bunny expert that I can’t remember the name of. It helped a lot and I stayed up the WHOLE night afraid he was going to die, he was so cold (I covered him with his favorite sailor moon blanket) and was grinding his teeth. I felt like it was all my fault because I think I upset him with my new work schedule, and because of that their routine has been jumbled up, (he gets a very proper diet and I use the shedding comb on him like mad (especially during this season), so he had to be stressed out since he is a good hay eater and eats his pellets in good proportions for his size as well as his romaine. I don’t give treats solely because of the sugar in them. I was determined to keep massaging until the vet opened and until the store opened so I could get some pedialyte and simethicone. Vet said there was no blockage and to continue what I was doing. He has come out of it now and is eating his hay and greens, slowly but surely, and I’ve never been so happy. But like all bunnies, he HATES being handled. We love each other a lot and I give him groomies and he gives me groomies back, but I’ve annoyed him so much with handling him trying to force feed him water, pedialyte and gas drops, that now he doesn’t groom me anymore, and actually nips at me, (which he has never done ever). This sounds so ridiculous but I feel like I’ve lost his love and that he’ll never forgive me. I am afraid he’s associated me with gas pain and syringe feeding when he doesn’t want to eat or drink. He won’t even”kiss” me anymore (my boys and I kiss by me saying “kiss kiss” and they nose bonk my nose, it’s our favorite way to show affection). Am I going to have to gain his trust all over again?

He still loves you, he just hasn’t forgiven you yet. That’s how we Moms get paid back for the love, worry, etc!

I am sure he will be back to his old self soon. They sure love to hold a grudge. I wish they could understand when we are trying to help them. It sounds like you took great care of him. =)

              Glad he is recovering!
He will be back to his old self soon, he just hasn’t forgiven you for helping him, and he probably is still feeling slightly under-the-weather. Just give him some time, poor guy.
Don’t blame it on yourself. Unfortunately this is just something that happens to bunnies.

Update: He eats almost his regular amount, but he at least grazes at the same time his “little brother” does. He’s had some big poops that I’m glad he’s passed. He jumped on my bed and woke me up with a nose bonky and settled down on his sailor moon blankie next to me for the rest of the morning as we watched cake boss on Netflix (his favorite, I think it’s all of the colors, he grunts if I change it lol XD) We’re on the road to progress!

That’s wonderful news Usagi1618! And just so you know, when Henry was new to our family he could hold a grudge for days (even weeks!). But as time has gone by he’s getting better – sometimes only snubbing me for hours! Nothing a banana can’t seem to fix (eventually), ha ha ha…. cheeky bunny!
                    Again – wonderful news!

He is just brooding right now like we do. I am sure he’ll bounce back in a day or two once he is feeling 100% again. Also you are awesome for giving your bun a Sailor Moon blankie XD

My Moshu went on stasis for a good straight 30 hours too..I too thought she wont survive. It was scary. But she’s fine now. I can understand your guilt regarding it. Our bunny friends lean so much on us for care.
