        Hi all!
We have a back deck area that Simba loves to lounge on but it is in shade about 3/4 of the day. I would like to plant some bunny greens in pots out there so he can nibble and dig. Anybody with a green thumb know of any bun friendly plants that might grow out there? Preferably edible. Thanks for the help!

Parsley and mint will both tolerate shady conditions and both are fine for a bunny to eat.

Leaf lettuce, butterhead lettuce and even Romaine lettuce will grow well with just a little bit of sun. Broccoli will also grow in partially shaded areas, and lemon balm will thrive in the shade.

My cilantro is growing really well in the shade! The plant in the mostly-shade is much larger than the two plants in the sun.

Btw, I have a *horrible* brown thumb, and am amazed by my cilantro!

I’ll second the mint. I have spearment and peppermint growing on my patio. Granted it does get some sun, but the stuff has gone wild! My thyme is growing slowly and basil is average, but the mint is just nuts!

BTW, I’m convinced pretty much anything will grow anywhere if you use Miracle Gro flower and vegetable garden soil! Just put small rocks in the bottom of the pot for drainage and water appropriately. We have yet to have anything not grow with that stuff. Hubby even tills some into our tiny sun-starved garden and we end up with the best tomatoes and cukes on our street. We have nasty clay soil, and the one year he didnt till any in, we have the scrawniest plants and hardly any veggies.

I find that wheatgrass grows easily in the shade as well, and is easy to grow, even for the black thumbs out there like me!
                      Mint is great too.
