Update: the spay went well and my new baby is home! Adding new pic in the replies.

I went bunny-hunting this week, the two local shelters just settled a cruelty case and had 20 rescues between them.  I went to see a male mini lop they had listed, liked him enough but was told he was fairly aggressive and maybe wasn’t a good bonding candidate.  I said how I really loved lops and was hoping he’d work out and she says oh well I have one sweet female lop in the other building that hasn’t been spayed yet so we don’t have her listed yet but is more laid back.  It was love at first sight for me, she was so sweet.  Unfortunately since she isn’t spayed yet I couldn’t do a meet and greet with Cooper, so I went with my heart and adopted her!  I had to leave her there until her spay on Tuesday then I can pick her up!!  These rabbits were all kept outside in metal cages with no shelter, just for breeding.  I’m so glad I can give her a safe, happy home.

I like her dewlap.   She looks calm.   I bet she will be happy not having young ones to tend to all the time now.  Giving her a rest.  She did what was natural to rabbits and had babies.  Now she can rest from it for the rest of her life.  I bet she will like that.

How could you not fall in love with her.  Have you picked a name yet?

Thanks all, I’m so excited and I also think she’s quite a beauty Names are up in the air still, and of course there’s part of me that’s not ready to believe she’s mine until she gets through the spay and comes home. I think Lucy is our top choice right now, but I need to see her again!

What a pretty girl! She looks a lot like Pip, so maybe I’m biased. Good luck with the bonding!

Yay, my girl is safe at home.  She is unfortunately now missing a chunk of ear as apparently another rabbit bit her over the weekend and they had to trim off the hanging piece   But she’s healing well and we have one dose of Metacam for tonight.  Just letting her settle in now.

So far Trixie and Lucy are serious contenders. For now it’s just “she” and “her” since she’s our only girl animal.

Those are cute names. Lucy would be my favorite name of the two. Holly would be a cute name too.

Poor baby’s ear! Grr to the bunny who bit her.

I like Lucy and Trixie for names — she looks like either would fit. Are the names in your siggy from Private Practice? If so, you might consider Charlotte or Addison (Addie) to keep it going!

Oh my gosh I loved Private Practice and never even realized the names were both on there. Sheldon and Cooper were named after Sheldon Cooper on Big Bang Theory. Penny would be the logical connection for the next bun, but I don’t think it feels right.

Looks like we are probably going with Trixie. I was pushing hard for Lucy, but my husband seemed to ignore me every time I mentioned it. I’m sure I’ll love the name more once I start using it. Oh and I told my kids how Beatrix Potter wrote the most famous rabbit story ever so it was a good rabbit name so they liked that idea.
