My Bunny (his name) got sick last week. He stopped eating and hopping. I took him to the vet immediately. The vet is the best exotic vet I’ve ever met! First he is hydrated and given oxbow for syringe feeding along with metacam. Bunny appears to get better and then suddenly gets the head tilt and begins flipping around 6 nights later. The vet says that it’s unlikely that it’s EC because it appears he also has GI problems, shaking, and his bones are protruding (even though he hasn’t lost any weight). We agreed to try to treat for EC as long as he didn’t appear to be in distress. There has been no teeth grinding or grunting. He just looks so miserable and half alive. He still eats the oxbow when fed to him and poops/pees well. Can someone who has seen this tell me what they’ve experienced with a bunny getting better from EC? I know it can take up to a month to see healing but like I said, it’s day 2 of treatment and I am very worried he won’t make it. He’s been my friend for a full 2 years and I can’t imagine being without him. He’s a 2.6 lb mini lop. Any advice would be great. Thank you for reading…

Vibes for you and Bunny…. Hang in there and keep up the meds… I really haven’t had experience with EC and head tilt so I am hoping some of the other members that have will see your post and chip in… I will comment regularly to try to keep it bumped up to the top of the threads.

I think it’s hard for anyone to say your rabbit is terminal – like you’ve mentioned it’s only day 2 of treatment so you really must give the treatment time to work. Many rabbits live with EC – most rabbits are carriers of this and don’t exhibit any symptoms.

            Vibes to your rabbit.

Thank you for the vibes. Bunny passed away this morning at 4am. My heart is broken but at least he is not in any pain.
