So, since 1:45 pm today (It’s exactly 9:04 pm), Moxie officially is free-range in my bedroom throughout the day. (LARGE bedroom.).

But I have noticed that she doesn’t really drink when out… So I put her away for a little while and went downstairs in hopes she would drink. I let her back out and here I am. But anyway, how can I get her to drink when she’s out? Any advice would be helpful.

(Oh, and I hope this is the right place to post this)

I never see my rabbit drink. I think that it’s just been one day too so in my opinion, I wouldn’t worry – it’s just a change for her and when she is thirsty she’ll drink. I imagine that she would drink more in her cage more out of boredom than need.

Well, one of the reasons that made me worry was she peed in the corner of my room and it was very tiny and slightly thicker than most of her others. And when I put her back in her cage for the night she drank A LOT. It also gets hot in my room and I don’t want her overheating.
            Thanks.

I would say if she doesn’t have easy access back into her cage I would try setting out another water bowl for her. If it, also, gets warm in your room you can always pick up a few of the ceramic tiles from Lowes or Home Depot and put them in spots you noticed she likes to hang out. They offer a cool place for her to chill out in. Or you can always give her frozen water bottles. I noticed that my buns are not too fond of the water bottles. So what I do is stick a water bottle in front of a fan and the cool from the water bottle is spread by the fan.

She has easy access to her water, her cage is on the floor, right in the room with the door wide open. Moxie won’t go anywhere near a frozen water bottle, so I normally try other means of keeping her cool, I haven’t tried the ceramic tiles yet though, I’ll have to pick a few up!

Ceramic tiles are nice. We use to keep a few in the freezer and rotate them out (along with a couple just at room temp). I’d probably go ahead and put out an extra water bowl for her, give her another option than going back to her cage.

I think if she gets really thirsty, she’ll find her way back to her cage. She’s probably too distracted by the new exciting territory for now and is reluctant to return to her cage. If it were me, I’d put another water dish outside as long as the temperature is high just in case she’s distracted enough to not know what’s good for her.

My bunnies avoid the frozen water bottles as well. I tried reusable ice packs wrapped in a towel, but it was met with suspicion. However, I just left it out at room temperature one day and one of my bunnies used it as a pillow. It was still cooler than the air and he looked comfortable. He also uses a marble slab I put in a cardboard box.

Thanks everyone for all the advice.
One last question (hopefully ) :
Moxie purposefully kicks over all bowls, including food dish. So she has always drank form a bottle. Any suggestions on how to get a bottle out of cage/xp, or for her to stop kicking bowls and her to learn to drink from them? Thanks.

Try using a really heavy bowl so it cannot be flipped. Most people use heavy ceramic bowls with flat bottoms. I use a gravity waterer, which holds plentybof water, and because of the ‘jug’ on top, it is much to heavy to be moved.
