           Hi,

A while back Cookie got the mites on the back of his neck so we went to my vet and he was treated with revolution. Recently, I noticed that Cookie has been scratching his ears much too often. So I inspected his ears and found the insides completely clean, but when I ran my fingers along the outsides their was loose fur. I looked through his fur on his ears and found what looked like dandruff. It looked to me that he got the mites again but this time on his ears. So I called up my animal hospital and they said they can sell us a tube of revolution. My mom will be picking it up later today. I just wanted to make sure that I did the right thing. Was I supposed to instead go for a vet visit?

        Thank You

Sounds like mites. The Revolution can’t hurt, so it is probably fine. in pairs, they often treat both even if only one has mites, in case they pass it to the other one, so it doesn’t hurt them to be treated.
Next time though, you might want to go in, just so you make sure it is mites so you don’t spend unnecessary money.

Thanks for responding. Cookie is singal so he doesn’t have another bunny to pass it on to. So if he does have mites (and I am pretty sure he does) should the revolution take care of it by itself? Sorry, I am just a little worried and things are really busy so it would be hard to go all the way with Cookie for a vet visit. If it ever happens again, I would definitely want to take him to the vet just to make sure.

Yes, the revolution should take care of that.

Also, don’t forget to treat him 2-3 times a week apart so you can be sure the mites are gone.

If the original mites were extreme you definitely need follow up treatments, also the area he lives in needs to be treated too…

The vet told me to do it all at once. That is what I did?.

You can see if you need more treatments – it may be fine.

I am pretty sure my vet would have told me if I needed to come in. But she didn’t. I am hoping it should be fine. I looked through the fur on Cookie’s ears this morning and I couldn’t find any flakes.

Sounds like it just took a little time for the last of the irritated skin to flake away… Revolution usually works quickly and thoroughly.
