Hi all! Stanley’s almost 7 months and I’m going to introduce veggies. Wanted to know a good one to start with. I’ve read it’s good to start with one and if he does well with that introduce another. I’ve read dandelion greens and romaine lettuce. I want to make sure this veggie is ok specifically for holland lops. Help

I started my holland, Bumpy, on romaine. After about a week, I tried parsley (which took a little time for him to approve). His main veggie now is kale. It’s his absolute favorite and he gets grumpy if it isn’t offered. He also enjoys green leaf lettuce, bok choy. It took more than a week for him to want the taste of basil, and two weeks for cilantro. He likes mint, but has only had it twice. For mine, it seems he prefers crunchy leaves like romaine and kale. He will eat spinach and collard greens, but he doesn’t eat it with gusto.

I don’t think there are any veggies better or specific for holland lops, just mainly making sure you have no dietary upsets, which I think is rabbit specific not breed specific.

There aren’t any breed specific restriction on bunnies where veggies are concerned. I started mine with cilantro.

Here’s a good list of bunny safe veggies:

Just go for it Do one new veggie a day so you can make sure if you do see lots of wet poop you’ll know which one wasn’t tolerated. Use the list ‘movediagonally’ posted-in fact…. most of us have a bunny safe veggie list printed in our purses lol

Oh and you may find your rabbit won’t eat a veggie you offer. And won’t eat it the second time you offer. Or the third or seventh. But especially with important greens (lettuces) keep offering and your rabbit will more than likely try them after a few offers.
