Sorry guys just really had to get this off my chest!

I’m a student living in shared accommodation with 4 others, and normally we all get on fine. We have a cleaning rota, so the house doesnt get filthy and no ones stuck with just one job. So far so good, yeah?

Anyway, the past two weeks have been rush week at the local Uni, which has meant the nightclub I work at has been HEAVING every night. Pretty much every night this past fortnight I have been finishing work and staggering home at 4am. Anyway, because of this I left a stew pot on the side and didn’t clean it up. I know, thats a breach of house ettiquette and I normally am very prompt with washing up. The others have had slips in the past, but no big deal right? We’re all adults.

        APPARENTLY NOT.

One of the guys, Tom, was cleaning the kitchen today as it was his turn. He saw my stew pot and did the only logical thing – threw it out the window into the garden. He then came and banged on my door, waking me up from trying to get some sleep after getting in at 5 this morning shouted through the door for me to ‘clean my $*&!ing $*&! up’ then slammed back. He then carried on slamming and banging about the house, sending Merlin panicking for the safety of the gap under my bed (where he refuses to leave from. Thanks for that Tom.)

But if that little tantrum wasn’t enough he then sends a facebook message to all of the housemates about me, effing and blinding and all sorts.

Really? This guys 30 and has a kid, by the way, and this is how he reacts to a tiny thing like this. I admit I was in the wrong for leaving a stewpot out but Jesus would it have been so hard to go ‘Hey, I’m about to do the kitchen, can you quickly tidy up your pot?’

        Auuugh. People. I despair.

Oh my gosh! What a temper! Seriously, though, it was just a stupid pot. Honestly, the things people freak out about.

I know right?! The ironic thinkg is I’m a punk, blue and green hair, piercings, tattoos etc, and because of that I’ve got a bit of a reputation as a “bad B**ch” but I HATE confrontation. Seriously.
Good thing though, Merlins been tempted out by me hiding coriander leaves in his diggy box so he’s ok

Must be that time of the month…

Don’t let it get to you, he obviously has some issues. I’m sure your other roommates know he’s in the wrong and I hope they back you up if he keeps making a big deal about this.

Goodness   I can see if it is a sink overflowing with dirty dishes.  One pot.   OMG  the world is going to end.

Glad your bunny is calm now.

maybe shave an eyebrow in his sleep  lol.

Ha! An excellent idea BT. Yeah Merlin’s ok. Tbh, my partner and I are moving to a bungalow soon and it should be good for all of us. Merlins getting more place to run around and there’s no stew pot fascists!

=[ That totally sucks Silverpaw. I think this Tom needs to come to my place and just sit in my house’s mess for a bit. Maybe that will teach him a thing or two and appreciate your nice place. XD Good to hear that you and your partner may be getting better accommodations. =]

Ha ha ha ha ha – I’m SO sorry for laughing Silverpaws, but the amount of times I’ve wanted to throw a huge ‘tantrum’ and chuck the ‘upsetting item’ OUT the window in protest because of my hubby or grown children being lazy (not saying you were – NO WAY, but in my family’s case – LAZY) ha ha ha ha……
I do get being frustrated, but no (even though I’ve thought it, lol!), you don’t react that way. Maybe when your 3, NOT 30! He must be a great role model for his child??? Poor you having to tolerate that appalling behaviour. My youngest son lives with 3 of his mates and he often comments that he has on occasion had to endure the same, but his attitude, ‘hey, it happens….’ and if/when it gets out of hand, you raise it politely, or push it to the side for them to deal with later – EASY! What a jerk!

PS – That’s why I don’t throw tantrum’s – I don’t want to have to sleep wondering if both my eyebrow’s will still be in place the next morning??? LOL bunnytowne – GOOD ONE!

Yep, what AndHenry said. I will have to admit, I have thrown a pot or two in the trash because I didn’t want to wash/scrape/soak the dried on stuff, and threw a casserole dish in the trash once because there was no place in the cabinet to put it! After combining two kitchens (my mother now lives with us), we have way too much stuff anyway (and some of it is older than I am!) . . . Haven’t thrown anything out the window (except for a batman action figure once) and nothing was thrown out in tantrum!

When I was in college I had two roommates and we took turns as well with general cleaning. For pots, pans, etc. we all just washed our own. If someone left something unwashed, we all agreed that the person must have had a good reason and we just set it aside for them to wash later or washed it ourselves knowing the favor would be returned at some point. As long as everyone flushed the toilet, didn’t use the last of the toilet paper without replacing it, didn’t drink out of the milk/juice cartons, and didn’t borrow without asking, we were all good.

Good to hear you are moving Silverpaws, the guy sounds like a complete wanker and obviously has some issues… All he needed to do was put it to one side a note asking you to wash it when you got up…. Sooner or later he will have a momentary lapse, I am assuming he will expect to be treated with dignity not in the manner which he has treated you….. That’s usually the way people like that are.

We have to set up an Aussie language class Roberta! LOL!

You know, when I post – I often get one of ‘OUR’ words in my head and have to stop and think – what’s a word ‘every’ BBer will know??? Ha ha ha!
I still can’t believe people don’t know what a ‘budgie’ (not smuggler – just a budgie as in a BIRD) is???  Toooo funny!

Tehe! thanks all of you for putting a grin back on my face. Another favourite of the tantrum revenge is to put cress seeds in their carpet as cress will grow everywhere…. at least Merlin would have a nice little growing salad! Thankfully we only have two weeks left here so just going to put my nose in the air and be the bigger person.
AndHenry- we have wankers and budgies too here in the UK! Though our thongs are somewhat different ;p

To go bezerk over a stew-pot is a fine example of emotional dysregulation. It’s just not in proportion to the stimuli. So glad you’re moving out of there soon. Here’s a MOOC on the science of stress management you can tip your “friend” about: https://www.edx.org/course/uwashingtonx/uwashingtonx-ecfs311x-becoming-resilient-1652

It started a month ago but it’s still open. I’m taking it. It’s a very practical course, not so much about studying and learning facts. It teaches you how to refrain from going berzerk, among other things.

LOL big time Silverpaws!!! Lets not start another ‘thong’ (FEET for me!) conversation on BB or we will get BANNED! Ha ha ha haha…..

Good for you and so pleased WE were all able to cheer you up. Cheers Silverpaws.

Edit to ADD – maybe I should look into that course bam??? ……

I knew a budgie was a parakeet  but a smuggler never knew that.

a wanker I figured was a nutcase lol.   Aussie language course.   sounds fun. I might start using wanker.  lol  This is fun

a growing salad.    lol    that actually happened to me.

Had birds and their seeds get all over.  I kept smelling something bad.  I cleaned bleached vacuumed their cage.  I opened the living room closet one day.  i found the washer in the kitchen (yes kitchen) had been leaking and the birds seeds had grown in the closet rofl.  The books in there had all gotten wet n moldy had to throw them out.  De weeded/seeded the closet of seed sprouts lol.
