My rabbit is a Rex cross but I’m not sure with what. She is on the smaller end at around 4 pounds, also her litter mate at the shelter was a lion head(unsure if crossed too) I’m just wondering if anyone had a clue what she could be crossed with? I’m just interested

It would probably be anyone’s guess just like yours. Based on her photo in your avatar she looks like a full blown rex to me.

Mixes can be very mysterious, and you might never know her exact “heritage”.

I agree with Sarita tho, from your avatar pic she looks like a regular mini rex. (Minis usually top out at about 4-4.5 pounds, standard rexes are up around 8 pounds.)

Depending on where she came from, she could have been from a backyard breeder or someone who had two opposite sex mini rexes and “just put them together”. She may be a full breed mini rex, or some high percentage of mini rex, for example one parent who was full mini rex and the other parent who was a mini rex cross. I think it would be safe to say that she’s a mini rex if anyone asks.

Aren’t genetics interesting?! Just like with dogs, you can have a litter of mix puppies and half look like mom, half like dad, and sometimes you have some very random puppies that you can’t quite pinpoint!

Either way, she is precious! Welcome to BB!

Thanks yah I love her I got her from a shelter and her adoption papers said Rex cross so I was just wondering with what cause she obviously has Rex but is smaller. Also her colouring is all over the place with white and various browns all over. There are many colours which I think add to her cuteness but don’t help with determining what she’s crossed with. Actually I never thought of her as a full Mini Rex before sounds interesting.

I am thinking she looks very ‘rexy’ too!
I am really bad with breeds, but what a beautiful girl!

Shelters always put “cross” or “mix” on an animal’s paperwork because they have no way of knowing for certain (even if it is obvious) that an animal is purebred. It’s a way to project themselves from potential trouble. From your itty bitty pic, he does look like a rex. Maybe a bigger picture would give us a better idea!
