Sorry if this is a really stupid question, but does poop size vary by rabbit breed or rabbit size?  My two holland lops’ poop is twice the size of my mini-rex mix’s poop. All of their normal poops are pretty consistent per bunny.  The lops weigh 3 and 4 lbs, and the other weighs 3.5 lbs.

I would have thought that rabbit poop would be like dogs — the bigger the rabbit the bigger the poop but now I’m not so sure (if that held true, the giant breeds would gave golfball sized poops in comparison to my lops?).

I wasnt going to ask but this crosses my mind most days when Marlee and Moshi have a full litterbox and when Kieko has her daily poop marking explosion in our non-neutral play area.

My buns are a rex and a we aren’t quite sure, 6 and 8lbs. Their poops are slightly different sizes. *shrug*

Our baby flemish is the same size as our grown lionhead/lionhead mixes and his poop is at least three times bigger. Our california mix and unknown mix have bigger poos then the lionhead mixes and they are about the same size atm, though they are still growing. From what I’ve seen bigger bunnies make bigger poo. Not nessisarily weight but larger physical size. Our four oldest buns (2yr, 10mo, 6mo) all weigh the same but their physical size and poo size vary.

Poop size does vary, but I don’t think the differences are necessarily proportional.

I guess that makes sense. I worry about Kieko’s poops being so much smaller than M&M’s but then wondered if something may be wrong with their poop size (they are half brother/sister). Also, my husband wants a flemmie some day and I started thinking that there wasnt a shop vac out there that could handle stray huge poop!

Hehe. This is something I always thought was funny. My lionheads have tiny poos, but the flemmies at the rescue-HUGE!
I think each individual bunny will have different size poos, but as long as it’s normal for them, it’s not an issue.

LEL, that’s pretty much what it’s looking like. Kieko’s poops got tiny when she started a bout with GI stasis. They’ve gotten bigger but still not what they used to be and never were as big as Marlee & Moshi’s (she weighs the same as them but diff breed). Our vet said she was looking more at the quantity with Kieko than at the size (once they got a little bigger). I still have this weird need to see how big flemmie poops are as compared to M&M’s!

The Flemmie poops I have seen were about the size of a marble, if that helps any.

Thank! If hubby ever gets a flemmie, I think our xl shop vac can handle that size stray poop!

It’s amazing how my life has come to revolve around rabbit poop, hay quality, bunny toys, etc.! Our storage room isnt air conditioned (yet!) so the living room, with it’s white furniture, is being used to store hay so it stays cool and dry!

Haha! You may think your bunnies are just a part of your life, but when you look at it, they are your whole life! Everywhere I go I see stuff that makes me think bunny!

                            True, but scary!
