I just found it last night. It’s in the folds of skin just behind and below his left shoulder. It doesn’t feel particularly hard like a tumor. But it’s long and thick (about 1/2 my pinky finger in size) and I don’t think a fatty lump would form in 24 hours. He was fine last month when he got a month’s worth of baytril for a possible chest infection.

I’m trying to get him in with his vet this weekend but she”s heavily booked. I’m so worried I can’t stop crying.

May I please ask for vibes/prayers for my little man? He’s been through an awful lot in the past few years. I’m scared we’re looking at an abscess and where there’s one there may be more. At almost 8 years old I’m afraid anything more he has to deal with physically could be too much for him.

        Many thanks for reading. xx

I finally got a call back from his vet this afternoon. She is having me bring him in tomorrow morning. She is concerned it may be lymph node involvement.
Very scared and worried for Mimzy. Thank you all for your vibes and prayers and if there are any more going spare, we’d sure appreciate them.

Really hoping it’s something simple. But I’m well aware it may not be.

Thank you all for the vibes.
We are back home now. Mimzy’s lump has turned out to be a fatty lipoma. No cancer, no abscess, no lymph node involvement. We’re to watch it and if it gets bigger or does any strange changes it will be removed or we can have it taken off during his next dental sometime this summer.
                          Such a relief!

That’s good! I’ve had many rabbits with those fatty lumps removed successfully.

Oh that’s good to know Sarita Can I ask…did any of the lumps ever turn malignant? We seen to live in cancer central where we are and that’s my worst concern for any of my pets. So far while we’ve lived here (about 20 years) I’ve lost at least 3 pets to cancers of some sort (plus having it myself) so if for some sad reason Mimzy develops a problem with this lipoma I’d be interested in knowing how successful removing it is.

DianeK…howdy! (waves) That makes you and me and mossling I think, who all call Alaska home. Well, I’ll be here till OH moves us later in the year anyway. :'(

Thanks again everyone for keeping us in your thoughts. It’s been a rough day and I had to take a nap this afternoon just because I didn’t sleep last night for the stress!

From what I have seen/heard, many rabbits at the rescue have had fatty lipomas removed easily and successfully.

Oh, how scary Mimz…..Sorry for the late attention, I didn’t have a computer since Thursday (thank you, Olivia). I’m so very relieved it’s not something malignant. Bindi has several lumps that had me worried. He has a large one under his ear, like the size of a grape but it’s benign.

No more worrying your Mom, Mimzy!!!!!!

Thanks LPT Yeah it was a dark weekend for me, I really thought we were looking at something he wasn’t coming back from.
He was oddly subdued at the vet and unsettled enough at home that evening he was shaking after I finished cleaning his pen. Does anyone know if the needle aspiration could’ve hurt him somehow? He didn’t even flinch when she stuck him…honestly I almost got the feeling he was thinking he was being pts. This was a typical trip to the vet but I do wonder if he’s beginning to get tired because he just didn’t bounce back as well as he usually does.
Didn’t Bindi have a lump on one of his shoulders or behind his leg? It never interfered with his movement did it?

MM, the lumps that I had removed were never malignant, just fatty tumors – it seems to be common in rabbits….

Bindi had a huge lump behind his front leg after he had IV fluids one time, I assume that’s what you are thinking of. Not sure what it was but when it was fluid filled, it did interfere until it burst open. It was huge. Still not sure what it was but I know it was caused by the IV catheter.

                                                ((((Hugs to Mimzy))))))

Ah…okay. I knew there was something but my terrible memory couldn’t pull it out. Thanks!
Well it doesn’t have any definitive boundaries except for the part that I can feel which is as thick and round as my pinky finger and about half as long. It feels a bit stringy in spots. I just thought it was so weird that it suddenly came out of nowhere.

It doesn’t seem to impede his movement currently, but if it gets to double it’s size it might be a problem.
