My buns recently moved into a pen instead of the little enclosed cage. Well each night Im finding lola out of the cage and somewhere in the house destroying my stuff. Lol. So I set up a cam and got pics of her….. actually climbing the bars of the cage like a little soldier then letting herself drop to the floor from the top! Has anyone ever witnessed this???? Im in awe…lmao seriously!

          How high is the pen?

Once my rabbit took a high interest in getting on my bed (She is little and her Binky hops were not that high so I thought she never make it) On day I walked in my room with her on my bed.

So I put a nic “cage” setup so she did not do that again about 30 inches high total I think it was. She jumped up and “climbed” over the rest of the way like yours did. I really did not want to make it taller so I just let her come up on my bed lol

I think one of ours has done that… Mufasa is in the unfinished bunny room atm and so he has a sectioned of area, a dog play pen. He started getting out and we figured out he was bouncing off the wall where there was a smaller gap. So we fixed that and things seemed good and then he was getting out again…. So we moved it so most of the cage was under the guinea pig tables and it seemed to be ok… then he started getting out again. He’s a little 3lb lionhead, and the farthest he has ever jumped up that I’ve seen is maybe two feet to sit on top of his old cage. But this is a dog play pen meant for a medium sized dog, so its a good bit higher then that.

We’ve been wondering how he has been getting out, that would make sense….

This is pretty common with younger bunnies, but some older small breed rabbits will do it too. They are just more nimble, I guess.

Ha, ha, ha! My little Jersey Wooly can do that! I’ve seen him use that tactic to get on top of his cage. He’s about 2.5 lbs of cute naughtiness. My lionhead is bigger – near 4lbs, and he crawls like that along the ground – no climbing though.

My Roxy is a little monkey.
Sounds like you need a higher pen or a top!

Ya its 36 inches high so I though that would be plenty high. WRONG. haha. I just ordered a cover for when they sleep, so I dont have to worry about what mischief she may get into after her “escapes”. The cutest thing is that COOKIE is always still in the pen just munchin on hay or watching Lola thru the bars. haha…oh I love these girls.
