        Hi!

So my rabbit lives in are sun-room (with no air conditioning) And it was 90 degrees today O_O and it is supposed to be like that all week! I really need cooling tips! He has not been panting or anything but he has been rolling over a couple of times (trying to get air on him) What I have done is put some ice cubes in his water, dripping some water on his back, putting cold tile in for him to lay on, I also put a fan on him (not directly on him I heard to NOT do that) and then putting a moist wet wash cloth on him. Is there anything else I can do!?! He still seems a little hot and I cant keep doind it over and over again

        Thanks,

        Anne

P.S. A lot of you have been calling my rabbit lulu but it is not anymore it is now Theo sorry for the mix up but it turned out he was a boy  And is there anyway to change my username I really need too!

I use frozen water bottles that cookie can lie up against and I have a few of them so I can rotate then once they defrost, I also put my tiles in the fridge before giving them too her that way they are nice and cold and I don’t have to replace them as often

Even if your bun doesn’t sit directly on them the frozen bottles still chill the air around them… This could be why your bunny doesn’t feel the need for direct contact with them… I also use a swamp cooler for my buns when they aren’t in the airconditioned part of the house…

I think a sunroom is really not ideal-is there any chance you can move them somewhere else for the summer? Basement maybe?

I would say the best thing to do would be to move your rabbit out of the sunroom. If not, set up a portable AC and frozen water bottles.

I agree, get the bunny out of the Sun room. Buns can take a LOT of cold, but not a lot of heat.

If temps are above 90 even a cage in a cooler room is preferrable to free run in such a hot area.

Here’s the link to our Cooling Tips page in the Bunny Info section:
                      https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/tabid/53/CategoryID/23/PID/940/Default.aspx

You will need these tips even if you can move your bunny but still don’t have AC.
Are there shades in the sunroom? Even if you don’t have shades, you could hang up a sheet across the windows to block direct sun somewhat. You can also put a screen around your bunnie’s cage to block it as well, or make shade. But check out the tips on the info. page asap.

Okay he is where there is NO sun that can get to him! And it is not the kind of rooms with netting (maybe that is what you are thinking it is) It just has windows going all the way around the room. there is a ceiling fan and i have a fan set up plugged into the wall i put ice cubes in his water every hour if i can and change his tiles a lot and i have been letting him free roam a lot because the tile on the floor is cool.i have a built in AC in the room that maybe takes 15 min to cool the room down completely but to run it it is VERY expensive O_O I may be able to show you a pic of the room but I don’t know how to put pics on
