Hi guys, this is my first time positing on this forum and as a first time bunny owner!

My new bunny is a 6 week old buck – holland lop mix (mother – purebred, father – holland/drawf mix with air-plane ears).

The bunny seems to enjoy eating yesterday’s news litter that I put in a cat litter box.

I think its either because he was raised in a wire-bottom cage so litter wasn’t ever necessary

or it looks similar to the oxbow pellets. Either way he won’t stop!!!

So right now I have taken out the litter box (he’s not litter trained yet) to prevent him from eating any more. Do you guys have any suggestions on how to make him stop eating it? He’s eating a lot of hay and pellets and pooping a lot too.

Also, since its a mix, his ears hasn’t lopped yet. From the pictures do you think he will soon? Again he’s only around 6 weeks, although some of his litter mates already lopped or almost completely lopped.

Thanks for answering my questions !!! Much Appreciated.

Eating too much litter can cause harmful blockages. You can put a bunch of fresh hay on top of the litter, or you can switch litters. I buy big bales of hay from my local farm, so I just put a bunch of that in the litterbox along with a sheet of newspaper and clean it every other day.

Ah ok thanks. I put a plastic canvas underneath that I got from Michaels for $1. Seems to be working. Thanks!

Try oxbow eco-straw litter. It’s harmless for him to eat.
