Hi everyone!!! I have a 3 and 6 year old girls who have been begging for a pet so we decided to grant their wishes. Last wed we picked up ginger who is a mix lop ear and lion head. As first time bunny owner…i tend to stress ut making sure everything is ok. Im detetrmined to potty train her…i followed what i read on line about placing a litter box on one corner. So far she pees on it bu the poop s still work in progress. M problem is whn she sits on the bedding and get out of the litter box she will b drggung a bunch of beddings cause it gets stuck on her fur. An ideas to prevnt ths? Im new in the bunny world and really need help…

What kind of bedding are you using? I use pellet bedding (horse thing) and that is pretty heavy and shouldn’t be such a problem with the long fur. As they use the litter box I just sprinkle a bit more over the top, add more hay and it gets me through a few days without constantly cleaning.

Cute picture attached! Looks like a much loved bunny. I don’t stress out about litter training unneutered rabbits. She’s going to keep going out of the box until you get her spayed. It will likely get worse as she gets closer to, um, I think 6 months. I can’t let my little girl run around the house because she won’t litter train and has been too sickly to spay, but hopefully soon. So I would recommend spaying her, especially if you want her to run around sometimes.

Thanks for the idea! I guess im being impatient with potty training her. Right now we are using the paper based bedding. Can we use the pellet bedding for a baby bunny. Im not sure if she eats her bedding….
The girls just love her sometimes i tell them bot to smother her cause she might get stressed out

The reason of using bunny safe littler like wood pellets, newspapers with soy ink, so on is because there is that potential of them eating it. Anything that is given to a bunny to play with, littler, betting to lay on, so on should be safe to eat because they will chew on it. (or dig at) Same reason why you need cord protectors :3

Anything they can reach, expect it to be chewed on. Mine even test the walls (walls to the house not the hutch) time to time.

I really do not know about betting since I don’t use any, but I thought saying this might be helpful. (Not sure if giving her towels to “dig” and chew at counts as “betting”

For litter, I have not read that a type of litter is bad for babies but ok for adults. I want to guess that the horse thing is a wood type littler? I use wold stove pellets. Should be ok for babies and adults since they chew on wood regardless of age.
