        Hi,

A month ago I started cutting down on Theo’s food. It was working great I lowered down VERY slowly and he seemed to be going well with it. And then a week ago everything started getting messed up! My schedule was that in the morning he would get a small handful of pellets and in between 12-2 I would give him some veggies and then at night before bed I would give him  one more small handful of pellets. But lately he has been getting to hungry  or something and eats WAY to fast! Then he gets hungry again and eats a TON of hay and then poops everything out O_O and he starts freaking out when I walk in the room and he never wants to get out anymore all he wants to do is eat I don’t know what to do! Because I cant be home to feed him more often :/ I have been very busy! What should I do!

Well he’s supposed to eat a ton of hay….you should free feed him this – ideally this should be the biggest part of his diet.

What do you mean poops everything out? I don’t understand that – rabbits should be pooping.

Are you actually measuring out his pellets?

OMG, I swear I have told the hubby we ought to retire and get into the bunny fertilizer business because the amount of poops our kids make is just ridiculous! They are both litter box trained and I HAVE to change it every 2 days because good lord, that’s A LOT OF POOP! And the last few days Dio has been territory pooping in the corner of the living room because we moved a piece of furniture and uncovered a patch of carpet, that heaven forbid, doesn’t smell like him and Pepper! In his 5 hours of free range time I keep the hand held dust buster by me and was having to vacuum his little piles up every 15 minutes! At one point my husband said last night, “How does one little animal keep producing so much sh*@t!” I tried to block off that area with a baby gate, their carrier, a box, their giant bag of bunny litter, and a stool and yet somehow, some way, he managed to get back there behind it all and pooped! I didn’t realize he did it until I heard my husband laughing hysterically, I walked back into the living room and asked him what was so funny and he turned and pointed at Dio, sitting there smugly from behind the baby gate staring at me as he was pooping another pile…. Hubby said my efforts were futile and I had to agree with him. ANYWAY! If you don’t already have a feeder your bun, get him one and he will prob be less hungry if he is chomping on hay all day long.

michelleann31 what do you mean by feeder? You don’t really want to free feed pellets, just hay….

And yep, those bun poops make great fertilizer LOL.

LOL – okay, thanks for the clarification! I agree a hay feeder is a great idea.

I have one! He gets unlimited hay! And I have a pretty big one. Probably as tall as him and I fill it up to the top EVERY time! And he eats ALL of it! I have to fill it up like 3 times a day! Geez bunny! this month I have already spent like $20 on hay for him! And he has been pooping EVERYWHERE but he is trained not to go out of his cage! That is a VERY good thing I would of been cleaning poop up for hours! And lets just say he has been peeing where he should not be

Maybe just as he’s growing his appetite is increasing?
