Hi. I am new bun owner. Just got my holland lop last Saturday and I am overjoyed by him. I’m not sure how old he is because the pet store never told us, but I’m assuming he’s a baby and anywhere from 5-9 weeks old. My question is, at the pet store when we were getting all of our supplies the worker told us that we should only give him hay once a week, but everything I read has suggested that bunny’s food should be mostly hay. He’s been eating the hay not stop, cause I decided to follow what I read instead and gave him an unlimited access to hay. So is they a thing as too much hay?

here are pictures of my little cuddle bun.

No, that is never too much hay and it’s great he has a taste for it – although my question to you is, what type of hay are you feeding him…alfalfa or a grass hay like timothy or orchard?

Ahw look at him! He’s gorgeous!! I’m guessing he’s 7 to 8 weeks if I compare him to my two holland lops. What’s his name?
I always check if my bunnies have some hay to munch on. 24/7! They get pellets in the morning, veggies in the afternoon en pellets in the evening. I hand feed them as much pellets as I can in the evening when I’m home from work. It’s a great way to bond with your bunny.

The pet store sold me Timothy hay, which I’m pretty sure they should have Alfalfa since he’s so young. I’m planning on getting him some as soon as I can.

Thank you! His name is Edgar. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t feed bunnies veggies until they’re 4 months old, is this true? Something about it being too hard on their stomachs when they are younger.

Keep him on the timothy hay – that is the best. What type of pellets are you giving him? If it’s for young rabbit then it’s going to be alfalfa.

The reasoning about introducing greens when they are older is that you want to replicate their mother’s diet and usually those rabbits who are “breeders” diet consists of hay and pellets only and not greens. So yes, best to wait until they are 4 months old and slowly introduce greens.

He actually looks a bit more like a mini lop than a holland lop to me. His ears are kind of long and his face isn’t very flat.
