I was trimming Toki’s nails when I noticed a drop of blood on my finger. I saw it’s coming from the base of his thumb nail/ dew claw. I hadn’t even gotten around to cutting it so all i can think is he caught it on something earlier. I wiggled it and it’s on the verge of falling off. I mean the whole thing. What do I do?! It’s 11;21pm and there are no vets open. He keeps holding it up and licking it. Please help!

Do you have any styptic powder on hand? If it will literally just come off, then you might be able to ease it off. Don’t pull it off if it won’t come though. Then you can put some styptic powder on it to stop the bleeding.

Flour may also work in a pinch.
