        Hi!

I’m a relatively new bunny owner and just had question. I read that water bottles can give a bunny mouth ulcers, so I opted for a bowl. It’s more natural and I prefer it. However, I’m concerned that me having to reach in to take the water bowl out is somehow upsetting for him (even though from what I can tell, he doesn’t seem to mind my hands in his cage. He lays with his legs stretched out and lets me massage him while he’s in there!).

Anyways, what is the best for water? Bowl or bottle?

          Hi!

I recommend water bowls because it’s more natural.

Also I heard rabbits drink more from the bowl.

Thanks so much! You responded to all of my questions.  I thought that it was better, too, but it’s nice to have a second opinion.

Yep-definitely the recommended choice would be a bowl. I wouldn’t think he would be bothered by your hand in his cage.

Bowls are recommended, but bowls and my buns equals total disaster. Leopold will make pellet souffle every night by picking up the food bowl and dumping it into the water bowl. =\ They do fine with a bottle and Wooly actually seems to drink more with a bottle. The bowl seems to confuse him.

We switched Porky from a bowl to a bottle b/c he kept hopping on his bowl and spilling it. He’s happy with his bottle. We gave him both for a few days to make sure he liked the bottle.

My babies use both. Pepper has used the bottle from day 1 and is so smart, if she’s extra thirsty and feels the water isn’t flowing fast enough for her she knows how to grab the spout with her mouth and do a very quick and strong shake and makes the water come out faster. We tried giving her a bowl and she did the same as LBJ’s bunny did, made pellet mush soup! And Dio HATES bottles, we gave him one the first 2 weeks after we adopted him from the shelter and he barely drank out of it and I didn’t want him getting dehydrated so the hubs got the spoiled brat one of those kitty self watering bowls that have like the miniature water cooler attached and now the kid drinks a good amount of water every day. Silly buns.
