My new bunny is about two months old, and I’ve had him for five days. During the day, if the door to his home is open, he rarely comes out to play. He prefers to stay in there, usually laying under his little straw hut thingie. He’s always stretched out and looks very relaxed when he’s in there, so I can tell he is indeed relaxed. However, I just want some peace of mind, so let me know if this is normal or if he’s upset. He does come out occasionally, do a few binkies and go back in.

Oh! Another question. Sometimes in the morning when I open the door, he’ll come out and use the bathroom everywhere! He does use his litter box, just not always. I’m not really concerned at this point because of how young he is and the fact that I just got him. I just found it peculiar.

        Thanks!

I think he is okay. When I first got my bunny, Jughead he stretched out all the the time and whenever I opened his cage he never came out. I think it was because he was shy, after all, he was in a new environment. But after a few weeks or months he started getting out of his cage. Now, he ALWAYS wants to leave his cave so we let him out for the day and put him back at night.

You can be right about that, for the first week or so Jughead peed around his cage but eventually learned to only do it in his litter box.

          Hope this helps!

If your bunny is still fairly new to you, he just needs to get comfy, and to feel secure. Whenever I have a REALLY busy week, and Moxie spends most of her time in her cage, I’ll open the door and she’ll stay in there, stretched out somewhere. But when she’s out for most of the day, everyday, she will run to the door and charge her way past my hand! So, there is most likely nothing wrong with your bun

Doesn’t sound unusual. My three sleep and relax most if the afternoon. I think that’s so that they can make lots of noise at night when we’re sleeping! And to think I actually considered putting a baby monitor in their room . . . Now I’m just glad I’m not a light sleeper!

Mine own a room, but they usually prefer to hang out in their condo. Sounds normal to me.

Oh and with the pooping he is probably marking. How old is he?

Oh, just had to add that rabbits are most active at dawn and dusk(forget what it’s called)
