So earlier today my brother and sister dared me to eat a rabbit pellet, so I did because they said they would do. SO we each got a little pellet and on the count of three I put it in my mouth and chewed it but they put their pellets in the bucket! I am so CLUELESS!

I’ve tasted my bunnies’ pellets. It tasted like hay. (Or rather like hay smells. I’m not sure I’ve tasted hay, but I know farmers who taste their hay, it’s the quickest way to determine the quality.)

Bunny pellets are not disgusting like dog-food since it’s all vego. As Roberta says, it’s probably better than most breakfast cerals for humans.

It did taste a little like oat cereal and I have tasted hay because for 4-H horse program we had to learn what good quality hay tasted like!

hahaha don’t feel bad.   I have eaten a piece of dog food when I was young.  My friend I dont’ remember if she ate one or not.  Penny and I loved horses so much still do.

We would graze in the yard playing horses.  Once we actually tasted the grass.  St. Augustine.  Wasn’t anything terrible or to write home about.

Oh I used to get papaya oxbow for Cotton.  HE was crazy about them til oxbow changed them.  They smelled great.  So I tried one.  Tasted like chalk.  hahahaha.  I guess rabbits don’t have a great sense of taste.  Tho Cotton Boo does love blueberries apples banana rose petals and leaves  mint sage  parsley romaine kale(yuck)  etc.

Come to find out I am not the only one who tried an oxbow papaya tablet.  No one else liked them either.  Just our bunnies.

Walter is very picky! His food has different seeds and stuff in it including corn and he eats everything except the corn! LOL!

You might want to read up on his food. Seeds, nuts, and corn aren’t great for bunnies. Best to stick to one without the extras. I think the most common among BBers is Oxbow adult (junior verson for the babies). I think most vets seem to recommend the Oxbow pellets as well.

Am I the only person who saw the title and thought the OTHER kind of pellet? LOL

This reminds me of a few weeks ago.
1st grade girl picks up cottontail poo from the ground: What’s this?
                            Me (laughing): A coco puff.
Girl: Oh, really? I wonder what it’s doing out here. Should I taste it to see if it’s really a coco puff?
Me (not laughing anymore): Uh, no, you might want to put that down.
                            Girl: Why?
Me: Because it’s rabbit poop. We call them coco puffs.
Bunny poop goes flying from her hand: EEEWWWW!
                            Me: *sigh*

Now that you admitted it LBJ…. I thought the ‘other’ pellet too! LOL!

AndHenry, you Aussies don’t have coco puffs, but it’s so weird, they look exactly like bunny poops!
Umm… I taste all my bunnies food. Ya…. I guess I just want to know what they are eating? HECK, they taste my food all the time, why shouldn’t I taste theirs?
Oh Amanda, why are you so weird? (And why are you talking about yourself in third person?)

Us Aussie’s DON’T want ‘coco puff’s’ if they look like bunny poop – YUCK! LOL!
And why doesn’t it surprise me that you taste all your bunnies food? You taste the ‘toy’ materials!!!! ha ha ha ha…..
Yes, you are weird (but the good kind of weird, lol!) and I adore you for it!

I have never tasted bunny pellets, but I have tasted my birds pellets. Though, not my choice there. He likes to bring his pellet over and drop them in my tea, or take a piece of food off my plate and replace it with a pellet. *sigh* lol Parrot pellets taste like vitamin pills.

My mom has tasted cat and dog food. She wanted to know why her dogs always preferred the cat food. Apparently cat food is saltier. I will take her word on it.

Now, hay and grass, I have used them for something to chew. Very bland not much flavor. Never swallowed it though.

And coco puffs are yummy! They do kinda look like poop though lol but its chocolate cereal balls.

I’ve tried a few to compare. We were trying to see why the bunnies liked one so much better than the other!
Yeah, they just taste bland to me. And the oxbow were salty. Haha

Walter only had “extras” in his pellets for a while. He now has just normal pellets. We are preparing for fair and I have to take Walter to the vet as we have some concerns. Now that I think about it, coco puffs really do look like pellets! I will not be eating that kind of cereal for a while!
