This is my little girl Penelope she was dropped off at a shelter a few days after being bought. Sadly she was bought as an “Easter Bunny” and the family didn’t realize the amount of  work it took to raise her. She was about 6 weeks old when she was brought in and about 7 weeks when I adopted her. She is now 2 years old and happy and healthy. Since we didn’t know where she came from or her exact age we have never known what her actual breed is. The vet says she is a Netherland Dwarf but I’m still unsure because she doesn’t look like other Nethies. Does any one have a Nethie that looks like her or another possible breed? What would you say her coloring is? First picture she is about 6-8 weeks old & 2 years old in the second

I would say its a netherland dwarf or a netherland mix. The color is agouti or maybe chestnut. I am guessing fur color by the bottom picture. I am assuming that is what the rabbits looks like now.

Looks like she definitely has Netherland dwarf in her. The ears are kinda big but a lot of Netherland dwarfs have larger ears lol she’s cute!!

My sister just got a Netherland and this cutie does look like a Netherland mix. Like NewBunnyOwner123 said her ears are a liitle big but if she is mixed with something else that’s why!

Yes the bottom picture of her is recent so that is her coloring right now. Is there a difference between agouti and chestnut i thought they were the same thing?

Thank you all. I was reading up on the Netherland dwarf and came across information on “false dwarfs” so I’m thinking that might be what she is since her ears are a little bigger. At her last vet check she was 3 lbs and this is what she normally weighs.

She’s sweet! Thank you for adopting her.

I thought she was chinchilla colour in that first pic but she looks more agouti in the second.
Yes, chestnut is agouti colour. There’s also brown-grey and… I’m thinking there’s another??? Can’t recall.
Chestnut agoutis have a black tip on the fur. It’s hard to see sometimes but if you hold your finger behind some strands you should be able to see.

The agoutis (& otter pattern) have light tan brown colour back of neck and also what I think of as little tan underpants. A tan stripe going onto belly in front if hind legs. They also have a little tan where the white parts meet the main body colour.

                          She’s whatever breed Kieko is!

We think mini-rex mixed with something!  Ends up being “bunny rabbit” anyway!

Kieko’s ears aren’t as long as they look in this picture.  I can see a little nethie in yours with the body shape though.

Oh wow Jackrabbit Kieko look so similar to my Penelope! What cute bunny. I never thought mini rex since the vet said she was a hethie but others here have also mentioned the same breed. It may be something for me to look into as well.

So cute!! Thank you Rumball for showing me your underpants . Yes Penelope does have those markings just above her back legs and an all white belly. At least now i have a better grasp of her coloring.
