Sorry if this post is in the wrong section, I’m new here.

I’ve recently bought a dehydrator and I have been making some treats for my two buns. They’ve had all sorts of dried fruits and veggies (which they adore) but I would like to make some training treats.

I’ve been making treats with just plain oats mixed with mashed fruit and some water. The bunnies love them but they go a bit too hard in the dehydrator and I’m scared that they may hurt their mouths if I’m not careful.

Any ideas for softer cookies? If I take them out before they’re dehydrated then they go mouldy too quickly. I like to keep treats in bulk so I don’t have to make treats all the time, and plus I like to give them away to friends.

Any ideas? Or a recipe would be good

You don’t use a dehydrator for these, but here’s I recipe I sometimes make for my bunnies. (the measurements don’t have to be exact)

          Ingredients:
1/4 cup of your rabbit’s food (or more depending on how much you want to make)
About 2 tablespoons of normal oats
          1-2 apples
          1/2-1 bannana
          1 big carrot
Any other fruit your rabbit may like!

          1) Mash your rabbits food and oats in a food blender.
          2) Grate the apples and carrots and mash the bannanna
          3) Mix your rabbits food and oats with the apples, carrots, and bannana.
          4) (The consistancy should be thick a little softer than cookie dough)
          5) Shape the treats into any shape you want. (I shape mine into little balls.)
          6) Make in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-20 minutes or until hard but not burnt.
          7) Give them to your bunnies!
          8) If you don’t want them to mold, store them in the refrigerator.

My rabbits also like little cut up pieces of apple as training treats
