I grew a pot of basil and my bun refuses to eat it after eating one small leaf. She’s willing to eat spinach, but seems to dislike a lot of things including basil!

No reason to be pissed off – you can eat the basil yourself – makes a great pesto :~)

Rabbits just like humans seem to have preferences for what they like.

          What else have you tried?

You’re still doing better than me. The Basil I planted hasn’t shown any signs of life, yet…

I guess I got lucky with Mr Jingles, he eats all veggies. Only thing he is picky on is his hay.

My bunnies would eat basil all day if I let them!

I was in the EXACT same situation. Went though all the trouble of growing a beautiful pot of really lovely basil, he tasted one leaf and that was it. I was pretty irritated.

BUT!! What I ended up doing was placing the entire pot in his enclosure, you know… I thought it would look pretty all green and nice. The next day I caught him pulling another leaf. Then a couple hours later he was standing up and was going to town! The pot lasted about a week… which he then focused on the cilantro… after originally turning his nose up to that too! I wouldn’t give up offering it to him!

Oh I agree manic! I did put a few basil leaves in with Henry’s dinner for about 2/3 weeks before I gave up, so I did try. Same with zucchini, we eat that every night I cook and gave him the end for about a month before I gave up that too. Henry decided he didn’t like parsley but HE gave in after a week, so it does pay off to keep trying.
OK, so I’m sending basil to Tessie, Mr Jingles and Darwin – but I need to keep enough for when LEL brings her 3 bun’s for a visit to OZ!
Did you want me to send you some Hazel for Oscar?
                          LOL!

Put it somewhere almost out of reach and pretend you don’t want him to have it any more…
He’ll be on it in a flash..

Roberta, you are so right! It certainly works with shoes and bags. Nice bag you don’t want bunny to eat, bunny will find and eat, even if bunny has to climb and struggle to get to bag. Etc.

My buns refuse zucchini in spite of many tries. But there are other veggies and greens that they have been very suspicious about and now have come to love. They will only eat oregano if I dry it though.

Wow these stories are hilarious!!!! I have to agree with Roberta though… Frappe will go to earths end if he wants something… Especially if it is mine

Frappe will eat any veggie, hay, or pellets! But he is not a fan of mint but when i wake up in the morning is it GONE! I maybe he is saving it for last? The world may never know…

AndHenry: Yeah, might as well… If you don’t he might have to wait forever! I won’t give up though. Anybody know how to do Basil CPR?

Here’s picky. Gus likes green leaf lettuce but barely tolerates red or romaine! I should try Roberta’s approach though

They certainly DO have their own tastes don’t they?

Maybe that’s a good thing, if there is a warren of wild rabbits then they don’t all have to fight over the choice weeds, one likes this one, one prefers another.

Turns out mine both LOVE Basil, and cilantro (yuck, they can have it)…and my boy is crazy about beets…tops, roots, peels, you name it.
