        Hi,

One of my rabbits, Cinnamon, a 6 year old friendly Rex mix, has recently shown signs of excess gas in his little belly. He stopped eating late last night, and after a 30 minute tummy rub he gave me some kisses and bounced away and ate some food.

Today, however, he ate very little, and I’m unsure about the amount of waste he has produced. His stomach seems almost hard, stiff, and I’ve been rubbing it to try and help him out. I’m trying my best to get him to eat hay to try and help move things along.

He has had this happen before and had GI, so I’m a concerned bunny owner. I’m going to call the vet, but how soon should I try to get in?

Keep my little bunny in your thoughts! <3

          As soon as possible,
Mean while do you have some infant (human) gas drop’s ? Simethicone or infacol ? That will help also some fresh sprearmint, keep up the gentle tummy rubs..

            Thanks for your reply!

Here’s an update – my little bunny is doing better! I got him to eat some of his well loved greens he eats in the evenings, and about half a hour after posting this and after a belly rub, he went right up to his litter box, did his business (not a great amount, but at least things were moving!) and started munching away on his hay and drinking. I quickly encouraged him to keep eating his hay and drinking, and several hours later his stomach felt better and things were moving much better. Gave me a scare!

I’m still watching how much he eats (focusing on getting even more hay to keep things going) and watching his litter box. If he backtracks on progress or gets bad again, I’ll give the vet a call. He’s in very safe hands here, at his normal vet, and at the emergency vet (helped previously when he stopped eating).

            Bunny love to you all.

Glad he is doing better. Do keep a close eye on him for a few days to make sure he doesn’t relapse.
