        Hi there,

My 3-month old mini lop had a URI when I got her, and the vet put her on a week of Baytril. After a week she seemed to be better, so we stopped the antibiotics. But a few days in, she had white discharge coming from her nose again and it seems like she has difficulty breathing comfortably.

The vet put her on Baytril for another 10 days, and this is currently day 2.

I’m just concerned by the difficulty she has breathing, and sometimes her noise makes a squeaky noise when she exhales. But other than that, she’s eating, drinking and playing normally. Should I be worried that this could develop into something more severe?

I’ve had rabbits in the past, but I’ve never had one this young or with a URI. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Did the vet do a culture and sensitivity test to determine the most appropriate antibiotic to use? Typically you should use baytril for about 14 days for a URI.

He didn’t do a culture & sensitivity test! And he perscribed the Baytril for 10 days. We’re on day 6 and she doesn’t seem to be improving… Should I be worried or is this normal? She still has whiteish discharge from her nose and a little from her eyes

The bacteria could be resistant to baytril, since the vet didn’t do the c and s test you don’t know. I would go back and get the test. Then see what happens.
