I thought this was a good thread, to post, because if I don’t laugh about what I just found out Apollo had done, I’m going to cry. Casually surfing the net on my laptop, and I hear a clicking sort of sound…coming from the charger. Upon closer inspection, he’s bitten through the cord on an angle so I goes right through to the wire, and as I shift the charger, it’s sparking. Immediate power down, and onto the iPad for now. This is the second time he’s bitten through an $80 charger, and being a minor, my mum bought the replacement for that (this charger…now also chewed!!!) and ughhhhh I don’t even know. My laptop is 6 years old anyway, it is on the way out….but still, i swear I’m going to get into so much trouble for this! Thankfully Apollo is just fine and dandy, I swear he’s secretly a cat with 9 lives…talk about blessing in disguise!

What at have your bunnies chewed at that they really really REALLY shouldn’t have?

I’ve a chewer of my own, Yohio. I recently noticed that he’s been taking out big chunks of the wooden frame of my bed. Yummy!
As for laptop chargers, you need to get cord covers. It’s not extremely comfortable or pretty, and you have to attach them to thin cords with f ex electrical tape but it does save money plus frustration. I have the ugliest arrangement of electrical cords in my bedroom where Yohio mostly resides.

Tiger’s pretty good about not destroying my stuff. However, I just recently discovered that my 3DS charger had been severed. I hadn’t even looked at it for half a year, so I have no idea when it happened. -.-

Moogle snapped through my bf’s 3ds charger in one bite. He leaves larger cords alone so far on his accidental excursions behind the tv. One day I came home to a softball sized area of carpet missing where Ashe had pulled the fibers up. Spent 3 hours glueing them in til it looked normal. We are moving into an apartment with very little carpet today for that reason. My bunnies are starting to make all my life decisions for me lol

                      OMG   hahahaha

lamp cord,  tv cord,  vcr cord, mouse cord,  laptop charger cord, book covers,  he thinks the mail is for his chewing pleasure,  my nook cover, my quran, antique desk,  his spare cage box huge hole, rubber buttons on remote control, thread on my sewing machine,  foam handle on hubbys fishing pole,  any paper on top his cage belongs to him (he thinks), shoes, a few holes in purses, 2 of my nighties,  2 of my shirts, a litterbox, he jumped on top table and ate 1/4 a loaf of bread,  hubby left a cantaloup on couch Cotton ate into it,   oh no as I write this I see he has started chewing his new litterbox in his house I have toy in there for him to chew,

Worst of all   my sleep number cord that connects to pressure box to the handle to put air in or out.  He bit it into 4 pieces.

thats all I can think of for now.  I got really good at splicing wires.  except for mouse and charger wires.

Yes I invested in wire covers.  I put my laptop Pinky and my google chrome Littles m nook and charger for nook and phone and Pinky and Littles on headrest of couch.  I cover it with a skirt to keep my wires safe.   The remote controls I taped a plastic ziploc bag on them. Saves the buttons. I keep pillows on table chairs so he can’t get onto table to chew stuff.  I put towel over my little basket of stuff atop his cage so he can’t chew my stuff.  Hubbys stuff on spare couch we put pillows over it to protect hubbys stuff.    Hubby no longer leaves his food on the couch.  Hahahahaha.  Ahhh rabbit proofing.

                        OH my gosh.

I had my first chewing encounter last weekend.

I was skyping with a friend, using my Sennheiser headset (they don’t come cheap!). I was giving this whole vivid explanation and then suddenly….silence. Arya had crawled behind my back and chew chewed clean through the cord. Even though I thought I made some precautions. Nope. Bunnies crawl. It happened in like two seconds!!!!!

I wonder if one has to pay a higher premium for Home & Contents insurance if they have house rabbits?!

My rabbit loves apple chords! Especially the ones for ipads, iphones, and ipods. He ate through five of them (thankfully he didn’t get die). Now we know to use cord protectors, and use them on EVERYTHING.

Our bunny, Nilla, LOVED electrical cords. We homeschool and let her roam freely for hours while we are doing school in the same room and again in the evenings when we are relaxing. Nilla’s become an important part of the family and we were concerned for her safety as it was such a challenge to keep the cords away from her.

About a year ago, my 12 year old wanted to stop her bad habit of chewing her nails, so I found a product called Mavala on Amazon. It is applied as a clear nail polish over the nails. It is so effective that it makes my daughter gag when she gets it in her mouth. The trouble is that when she tries to eat ‘finger foods’, the awful taste ruins the meal for her. My daughter has given up trying to use this on her nails, but we’ve found an even better use for this product: RABBIT CHEWING DETERRENT.

Recently a light popped on in my head as we were trying to keep Nilla and I remembered how the Mavala product would prevent my daughter from chewing her nails. We ‘painted’ the Mavala up and down the electrical cords and Voila! No more destroyed cords! No more fear of our sweet little Nilla getting electrocuted! She comes up to the cords, sniffs them and turns away. I just put my review out on Amazon for the product and thought I would go back to some of the rabbit forums I look at to add a note that may help some other bunny lovers. I think I’m going to next try ‘painting’ the Mavala on some wood chair legs in a room we had to close off to our bunny because of her chewing them.
