I very recently adopted a bun from a shelter who has a 5° head tilt. Aaliyah is 2 years old and been in a rescue for the last 10 months. The tilt is due to the stress of her original home. She has been seen by many vets in my area, and all of them has said she’s okay living with it. My question is, should there be anything I watch for more with her than my other bun problem wise? I realize the standard things, but should other things, like shaking her head or scratching her ears, be taken more seriously? She’s completely healthy right now, so there’s no urgency, but I want to make sure I’ve got all my bases covered. We aren’t bonded yet, but she’s a special girl who I make sure gets the best care she can!

I don’t think there is much to be aware of besides the norm. Of course I have never had a bun with head tilt (touch wood) but I believe 5° is rather minor.

My girl Pippin has been healed of head tilt twice and has no residual tilting, which I’m incredibly thankful for. I would definitely keep a wary eye out for itching of the ears or shaking. Once they get that initial infection in the ear due to mites or whatever, recurrence is more common. I keep Pippins immune system boosted and gently check her ears once in awhile just to be sure. This is something that I’m always sort of on alert about since it’s happened twice already.
