It’s claw clipping time… So, as usual, I’m holding a bun and the wife is clipping the claws, everything is normal and routine… Until we get to Daisy, our most recent bun.

now, when we’ve clipped their claws before, we haven’t noticed anything particularly unusual, but Daisy’s right ‘thumb’… it didn’t feel right when I was looking for her toe in all the fur (Damn rabbits and their hairy feet), so, we had a proper look, only to find, she has no claw on her ‘thumb’…
Just a little pink stump, it looks a little leathered, as though it’s been rubbing on the carpet a little, but no wound, no actual hole or damage…

We’re not 100% sure how long it has been like this… Also, we haven’t noticed any change in her activity. She’s still a happy, bouncy, licky bun.

Was wondering if anyone else has noticed similar about their buns at all?

I’ll update with a couple of photos once my wife is home.

Was there a claw there before? Perhaps she was born that way or it ripped off when she was a baby and it never grew back.

To be honest, we didn’t notice.
I think we were too pre-occupied with her excessive weight and everything that was going on with Link when we got her.

Anyway, I managed to grab a couple of photos.

It’s a really tiny little stump she has there.

And, as you can see, although it’s pink, it isn’t inflamed or anything…

If I were to guess, I would say it looks as though it has always been that way.

                It is very possible…

It just seems like the sort of thing we would have noticed previously… *shrugs*

Almost feel like a parent not noticing if my child’s being bullied…

The location of those nails are not easy spot!. And I have found them to be in weird conditions before myself. As long as it does not look irritated or infected, it may have always been like that or the nail could have been ripped off entirely and will grow back, or grow back a bit funky. Just keep an eye on it for a while and then each time you do nail trims, check how it progresses (if at all)

Keep us updated as I’d like to know how it continues to grow.

OH, and here’s a tip for moving hair out of the way of nails. (That drives me crazy too).  Wet the paw right by the nails – that will help keep the fur out of the way. You can also wet your hands and use your damp fingers to push the hair away from the nail and it should stay away while you are cutting.
