Well after my last post here: https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/129893/Default.aspx saying I felt like all was finally well with Mini, we’re heading back to the vets tomorrow

Propalin seemed to be working to clear up her incontinence issues and she hasn’t been wet or had another UTI since she started on it. However the ‘accidents’ have increased in number and *cough* volume – so that we’re clearing up pee every day again and sometimes it’s not just a dribble!

I had been thinking I should talk to the vet about the dosage and how much we can play with it or whether the Propalin is even working. Then yesterday I picked her up to give her a dose and noticed her genitals are quite swollen in one spot. Not red, not sore looking particularly, just swollen up like a balloon. Googling obviously took to me to stuff about Myxi which is terrifying – but she’s vaccinated and her eyes look fine and clear.

I did notice a tuft of fur attached to a scab in the cage a week or so ago, but I checked her over and found nothing so thought nothing of it – I’m now wondering about vent disease? She’s eating, drinking, pooping and peeing though a little withdrawn, understandably since she’s probably uncomfortable.

Anyway we’ll speak to the vet tomorrow and maybe it’s nothing major. But this now means that since the end of Jan, we’ve barely managed two weeks without a trip to the vets. First gut stasis at the end of Jan and a week of stress for bunny & mama. Then after that came the UTI and incontinence – the UTI seemed to clear up, then came back and required x rays and an ultrasound before the vet hit on Propalin and the idea that the incontinence and poor bladder muscle tone was causing UTIs. Now this.

I had just been thinking she was finally well again and looking so happy to get to enjoy being with her buddy Jay (who we only adopted in Jan). I hate seeing her withdrawn and uncomfortable.

Anyone else have experience of a series of illnesses like this? Is it just bad luck/coincidence/stress of being ill triggering other illnesses or does anyone have any ideas of how it might all be linked?

Sorry for the essay. It’s just so frustrating not being able to get to the bottom of this!!

Has the vet ever done an x-ray to see if she has sludge or bladder stones? What about blood work?

Yes, she had X-rays & ultrasound last time she was in – no stones or sludge. She had bloods done with the stasis in February & nothing untoward showed up but I’m not sure that they checked them in relation to the more recent issues. I’ll mention it tomorrow.
