        Hi there,

My 12-week old mini lop had snuffles when I got her, but she was put on a round of antibiotics (Baytril) for a week and seemed to be better. But now she has a small amount of white discharge around her nose (a week later)…

She’s still eating, drink and playing, but should I take her back to the vet? Has anyone had experience with snuffles and is it something that can keep coming back?

Sometimes it requires a longer round of antibiotics. Call your vet and let them know it’s back.

My rabbit has had a URI Nov, March and again in April. My vet thinks she’s going to have them off and on her whole life due to a bacterial infection and we have to run more tests on her. Hopefully yours just needs a longer round of baytril to get rid of whatever it is and doesn’t have it come back.

Snuffles is a catch all term for an upper respiratory infection and not an actual medical term….

I do not believe that one week on baytril is enough for any infection to go away and if it does keep recurring then it’s time to get more tests run as Sticker says.

She originally had a URI & there was greenish discharge coming from her nose. But now its a smaller amount of just white wetness.
I called the vet and they’re refilling her Baytril for another week!
Is going on the antibiotic again going to upset her system? She didn’t do anything out of the ordinary the first time she was on it.

Baytril is safe for rabbits to take so she should be fine.

Mine hasn’t had any issues with baytril, beyond not enjoying the syringe being shoved in her mouth. She’ll be fine. If this round doesn’t take it out, do try to see if your vet can give you more than a week though… once they miss a week of dosage it’s kind of like starting over and a week may not be long enough to kick whatever it is out of her system.
