Hey guys! This is my first ever post on Binkybunny!!! I am still kind of confused about how this all works, but I am getting there Anyway, I am about to get my first bunny next week and have been OBSESSING about rabbits lately!  I have been watching Budgetbunny, 101rabbits, and all those wonderful bunny experts on Youtube, and have been doing A LOT of research! (I don’t even have a rabbit yet and it is already taking up most of my time XD)  I am so excited to have found a site with more bunny people!  I already have all the necessities and a living space set up in my room and now all that is left to do is wait.  My friend’s lionhead just gave birth to bunnies on March 24th and it is almost time that I can take one home!  I might post some pictures later, but I am still trying to find out how to do that :p.  Anyway, I would love to know more about Binkybunny and all of you guys so if you’d like, please reply to this and let me know a little bit about you and your bunnies!

Hi I am sort of new to! I have two rabbits named Mocha and Rumpus. Mocha is a cinnamon rabbit and Rumpus is a lionhead mix. I hope you enjoy the forums and your new bunny!

            Welcome Smmerf. : )

You’ve definitely found the right place to talk everything bunny!

So great you are doing all this preparation. Both those YouTube channels are great resources and the person behind 101 rabbits is a long time member on binky bunny.
The House Rabbit Society is also a fantastic resource.

The TECH section has some tips about sharing photos. Looking forward to seeing your baby lionhead.

Little about me…Well I’m a bunny and binkybunny addict through and through! Lol
At home I have a trio, and single bun and a pair (a bond that is developing at the moment). I lost my first rabbit Jersey in December. I had her for 6 years and she’s the one who led me into the world of rabbits. I also lost a very sweet bun named Jelly a year ago. I still think of these as part of my bun family even though they’re not here with me physically.

My home has also become the hotel for rabbits of my friends. I can’t tell you how many have come for a stay over the past couple years.
I think I need some revolving doors!

Hey Smmerf – how clever are you to do your research BEFORE getting your bunny (how EXCITING!) cause I didn’t – naughty me! So it meant that Henry (my mini lop) and I struggled for a while before I learned everything bunny – all thanks to BB! I’m just as bad as Jersey (post above) for being a BB addict, but I only have the one bunny cause that’s all I can cope with – Henry is a bit (LOT) naughty, ha ha ha…..
Gee, something about me and my bunny? I’m the chick with the naughty/cheeky bunny – I think that sums it up? Ha ha ha ha……
As I always say – stick around and enjoy the forums! Besides being super informative, we can be lots of fun toooo!
Have you chosen a name yet? (I LOVE bunny names). And watch out for LongEaredLions – she is a HUGE fan of lionheads, she may pinch yours?! Enjoy your new baby – again, sooo exciting! Cheers Smmerf.

                Hhihi

I did that too! I was so obsessing and I totally watched every movie on youtube about raising bunnies

You should look up someone from youtube called ‘PewterRabbit’ or something. She has great training movies! Maybe you’ve seen those already.

                hehe

Welcome Smmerf! I’m so glad you’re doing all this research before getting your first bunny, lots of people don’t and I was one of them… I’m on my 4th bunny now, the other three passed away several years ago. It’s very true that as a rabbit owner you learn as you go along, I still learn new things all the time.

You must be so excited to be getting a baby bunny! You said they were born on March 24th and you will pick your bun up next week. That would make them 5 weeks old when you take it home, which is really way too young. They should stay with their mom and litter until they are at least 8 weeks old.

                      Good catch Hazel.

Smmerf, could you ask your friend not to start rehoming the babies this young? They’ll do so much better if with their mum a couple weeks longer.

Hi! Welcome So glad to hear you doing research before hand I got my first bunny kinda thrown on me so I didn’t ever plan on getting one ever. BudgetBunny & 101Rabbits were the ones I was watching to learn everything I could too!
I have a bonded pair, Mimzy is 3 years old & was my first bunny, & Obi-bun Kenobi is my second, 5 years old, just got him back in September also unexpected!

Also I do agree with jerseygirl, unfortunately, the babies are much too young to be rehomed already, a couple weeks more would be good.

Very nice to meet you, this site is great, I hope you have fun here

It is I, the one who AndHenry warned you about!
I do love Lionheads, watch out that I don’t steal yours.
A bit about me and the buns:
My name is Amanda and I am slave to my three REW lionheads, Roxy, Asha, and Lionel. My bridge bunny is Bella, yet another REW lionhead who I will love and miss forever. Soon, I am adopting a fourth bun, a (REW Lionhead ) boy named Dillan. I am also a slave to my four guinea pigs, Milo, Midnight, Charlie, and Bean.
I hope you enjoy the forums, don’t forget to post pictures when you get your bun, and watch out so I don’t steal him!

                          Andi-Henry is COKE BUNNY! lol

AndHenry:  lol! I have been trying to look for names, and I just can’t decide! I know that if it is a little girl I would like to name her Paisley, but none of the little boy names I have come up with have really stood out… I really want to get a boy bun just because they seem a bit more cuddly, but I really just can’t think of a name!

Ok! I will ask her to see if she can care for them a bit longer.  I looked at a couple of sites and they said that 5 or 6 weeks was probably the amount of time it would take to wean them off of their mama’s milk, but it is probably best to let them grow up a little more.  Anyway, I think I know which one of them I am going to take home!  It is a VERY fluffy honey colored one with blackish spots all over it.  Ugh! Waiting is so hard! >.<

Here is a picture of some of the bunnies in a little basket.  It is a litter of nine, so I have a lot to choose from.  And thanks so much Hazel for telling me about the bunnies needing to be older, I sorted that out with my friend and the bunnies have a couple more weeks to grow up

Well, he sounds like a “Cheetah” to me . You’re right about the time frame when it comes to weaning. Even after that they benefit from staying with mom though. They ingest her droppings to build their gut flora which enables them to digest solid food, so that’s very important for their health. They also learn certain behaviors and social skills from her and from each other.

They sure look cute, it must have been so hard to choose one!

Thanks so much for the information!  That is very good for me to know in case I ever get another bunny this young.  Haha! Maybe I should call it Sabor after the cheetah in Tarzan.
