hi. Buddy just turned 3months old yesterday. the week before, on the third time he was introduced to my girls (who aren’t fixed yet), he humped them AND sprayed urine all over my kitchen. i was shocked. i didn’t think a 2 3/4mo bunny could do that. i called the breeder to confirm age, and the breeder said he is positive about Buddy’s age and maybe he’s an early bloomer, he’s never seen some thing like this before, and he could never get them pregnant yet. idk guys, he is spraying ALL OVER my deck (where bunnies play during the day… it’s a bunny room! ), and humping them all the time, which btw they are LOVING, as they were so “in the mood” before he even came along.

i just feel like the breeder is lying, as he wanted to unload an older rabbit on me.

has anyone ever heard of a male bunny being so mature so young?! he is going to vet saturday for her to tell me if he can be fixed yet. i don’t feel testes, but vet said rabbits have the ability to pull them back into body at will.

        ANY experience is greatly appreciated!!!!

          How old are your girls?
He could be an early bloomer. You need to separate the girls and boys until everyone is fixed+1 month before introducing. The vet should be able to tell how old the male is.

my girls are about a year. i didn’t know they should be fixed until coming on here a couple weeks ago, so they haven’t been done yet either.

I do not know if he could have impregnated them but if you planned to spay the girls anyway, I would do this now asap.
Even if not pregnant, the mounting will likely trigger false pregnancies as that causes them to ovulate.

One of the community leaders (Elrohwen) has a holland lop whose testicles descended at 8wks old. The smaller breeds sexually mature earlier then the larger breeds. 3 months seems spot in for when you’ll start see the hormonal behaviours in males.

oh wow! on the internet, everything i’ve read said that these behaviors start around 4-6mo. that’s why i thought the breeder lied about Buddy’s age.
