I let my rabbit out to have playtime (female unspayed), and I noticed that she was licking her fluffy blanket. I tried putting a mineral lick in her play pen and she did not bother to go lick it. Then I put a little plush dog and she started chewing on it. Why is she doing this? She does not do it on any other of her blankets only this specific one. Does she want a friend? Does she need a salt lick? Is she just claiming this blanket? She does this only with this blanket and does it multible times when she is out on play time.

Oh, if we could read the minds of rabbits we wouldn’t have to have this forum! I’m sure we could theorize til the cows come home, but all in all I would accept it as her special “friend” and not worry. Definitely don’t add a second rabbit if she isn’t spayed, or if you’re only wanting a 2nd one because it MIGHT make her happier. Don’t stress. She seems to have adopted it (my rabbit licks me and I like to think it’s because I’m his pal)

Aw! Sounds like she loves the blanky!

As long as she’s not chewing off fibers and eating them, licking is fine. Also, be careful with the stuffed animal. If she starts trying to chew it open, you’ll have to remove it bc you don’t want her eating the stuffing.

Once she started chewing on it I took it out. I guess she does! She always sleeps on it. Thank you for yout help! I did not know if it was a problem or if she was just doing it

                Hi Cottontail!

Don’t worry too much over the blanket! I have a female bun who does the same thing to one blanket! She rolls on it and nibbles at it and digs and digs and digs at it. I still have no idea why, maybe there’s a certain smell on it they love? My bun also likes to take stuffed animals in her mouth and throw them across the room(Okay, she can’t throw them THAT far). I guess I’m just the Mama of one crazy bun!

My bunnies like to lick their stuffed animals. It’s so cute to watch them groom their “babies”.
