So, my rabbits have pretty red swollen sore hocks and since yesterday, they have not been eating as much. They used to eat all of their pellets within 1 hour and they used to come running to eat their veggies. Know they have still have not eaten any of their morning pellets and they have ignored their veggies. I have seen them eating their hay and they seem to be pooping and drinking water. Any help would be really appreciated.

Take your bunnies to the vet. They need to have their sore hocks treated. Or are you treating them? If they haven’t eaten at all, something may be wrong with their teeth. Also make sure the vet checks for lumps or bumps anywhere on them. Good luck

          Just a couple more questions.

How old are your rabbits? What genders? Are they spayed or neutered? What is the floor where they are?

Hi MK. I took my rabbit to my local vet yesterday and she said to just change their flooring to plain hay. I am currently looking for a good rabbit vet as my vet doesn’t know much about rabbits. My rabbits are about 1.5 years old. They are a girl and a boy and they are both fixed. There flooring used to be a plush rug with bedsheets on top but I have changed it to a lot of timothy hay. I’m pretty sure there is nothing wrong with there teeth though.

As for there hocks, until I find a vet, I have been putting some Preparation-H on them but it doesn’t seem to be doing anything.

Ok. How have they been eating since yesterday? Can you describe their diet? Are their hocks just red, or are they bleeding? I don’t know what preparation H is..anybody else know?

It may be that they are just eating what they need – you said your rabbits are 1.5 years old approximately and it’s possible their metabolism is slowing down – your other post mentions their diet and it is quite generous.

Thanks everyone!!!! They have started eating like they used to since this morning Their hocks are not bleeding and they don’t look infected yet. But any advice to help their sore hocks would be greatly appreciated. I can’t really go to a vet yet because I am looking for a good rabbit vet in my area (this is the first sort of health problem that they’ve had since I got them.)

You do need to pad their area. Memory foam mats are good.

Do you think fleece will be good to use as bedding?
