Hi I just opened a new bag of kaytee rabbit forti diet and it smelled very strong of a smell I can’t describe best I can say is maybe a mixture of corn some type of grass and hay. It was potent though . However om confused as I had this brand before but cannot remember that smell.  It doesn’t smell bad just different. I’m not sure if this is normal for a new bag of food. But when my bunny smelled it she got excited and ran right to it.

Hi. It’s good to remember that each bag of rabbit food is always different. They use a different supply of hay etc. As long as you see that the food has not gone bad, it is nothing to worry about. Make sure that you never feed your bun any type of corn though.

          Hope this helped!

Does it smell sort of sweet? Oddly enough, pellets can go bad. They will start to smell kind of sickeningly sweet. I don’t know if that’s mold or what.

Your bunny will probably be fine. Just check and make sure that the pellets haven’t gone bad. I’m not exactly sure how they smell but if they smell really different than what they normally smell like, I would make sure that your rabbit isn’t sick. Maybe you should also get her some fresh food too.

Thanks guys . Now that the bag is open it has gone away somewhat ( the smell) bunny ate a good bit last night and she is perfectly fine today even more energetic actually. It doesn’t expire for 45 days after bring opened thr expo isn’t until December . She’s eating drinking hay and pooping fine so maybe it’s just because this bag was different the pet store is sold out of what I usually get so I mixed her old pellets with the food I very first got so she has had this brand before just not for a few months.
