To get your dog to stop barking, you might want to try filling a soda can with marbles and coins and shaking it loudly and saying no. To bond with your bunny, to start, I would just try hand feeding her treats and vegetables and she might open up to you. Also, don’t feel bad that your rabbit is going into its cage and running away from you. Rabbits are very sensitive animals and your rabbit is probably really scared of your dog barking, so you  need to find a way to fix that! Hope I helped.

Is a shi-poo a Shih-Tsu? If so, I have one of those ha ha ha….. and boy is he a yapper! He’s much older being 9 this year, and he bonded to Henry (bunny) from day one, but I think it helped that he was much older, way past his puppy stage. I just posted a picture of Henry and Frank (dog) together on bunnygirl’s forum ‘Jack Rusell and a bunny’ if you wanna have a look. Henry was startled by the dog’s (I have 3) barking in the first few weeks, but now a year later Henry doesn’t even flinch/lift his head. Your new bun will eventually get used to ALL the sounds going on around him, it just takes time. Just carry on as you normally would, and tell the dog to sshhh (I do) and eventually they will all get used to each other (smell) including their noise. Good luck stella’smom. Cheers.

I think you need to get your dog some obedience training.

mocha~ i can’t throw a loud can at him without scaring the baby bunny half to death i’d think! lol!

andhenry~ yes, a $*&!-zu/oodle mix. and he is not a yapper at all. rarely barks, is rEALLY good about that! BUT then i brought the bunny home. my husband says that he rarely barks at the bunny when i’m at work. as soon as i enter the home, he barks alot. so there may be jealousy issues going on here. he’s almsot 1yo, so is a puppy still.

sarita~ ABSOLUTLEY!!!!! he is starting puppy kindergarten soon, and i spoke with a dog trainer, who i would LOVE to come and do private training, if i can get the money together!

I would do the training, and also keep your dog out of the room when the bunny is out.

oh my gosh, the dog is absolutely kept out of the room!!!! he would destroy the baby! the baby is in the kitchen, and there are baby gates up to keep the puppy out. that’s the problem… the puppy keeps barking through the gate, scaring the bunny (well, not really. i guess because he is a flemmie, he seems a bit scared sometimes, but othertimes, he is like “meh.” and continues on his way. the dog is barking and he is trying to get closer to investigate the noise! lol!)

I would not even let the dog be at the gate when the bunny is out. I would put him in a different room with the door closed.
