  I am getting a 2 month old Holland Lop buck on April 20th, and another on May 7th. I have read so many different things on bonding I am just confused now haha. So should I just keep them separated until they are neutered? I heard they’re supposed to get along as babies but I’m just worried and want what’s best for them. I have had rabbits individually before so I’m clueless as to how I can keep two bucks together or if it’s even safe. Thank you!

  They can get along as babies, but once hormones kick in then it’s likely they will start fighting. The problem is that hormones can kick in literally overnight in many cases, so fighting seems spontaneous. If they get into a bad fight, then you may ruin any chances of bonding them in the future. That’s why it is best to keep them separated until they are neutered and hormone-free. That would set you up with the best chance for success.

  Ditto what LBJ10 said… You also need to be careful of one or the other being mis-sexed. Even breeders, vets, and experienced bunny people can get the sex wrong in very young rabbits. We’ve heard many stories of people with two boys or two girls… And then suddenly they have a litter of baby bunnies! Whoops! So this is something to be aware about as well! When you get them home, make an appointment to get a checkup at your vet sometime within the first month. The vet will also double check their sexes.
