Bonding - scuffle vs fight?

  During bonding, how do you tell the difference between a scuffle where you can keep on with the bonding process and a full blown fight that permanently ends any chance of a bond?

  Fights do not mean that the bunnies cannot be bonded. My now happily bonded trio fought tons. All I am saying as even if they have scuffles and fights, they can still be bonded.

  to me a scuffle is some scratching out with front paws, growling, grunting, some mouthfuls of fur. Probably some thumping, ear back,etc.
  
  a full out fight is when you see a big moving ball of fury, with horrible noises and fur flying out and catch sight of an occasional limb among the wild mass of angry animal movement.
  
  scuffles are pretty easy to break up, a full out fight can be extremely difficult to break up, and you may well get bitten or scratched. When they put ears back and start circling, that is usually heading towards a fight rather than a scuffle. Most scuffles seem to start out coming straight at one another or during one mounting the other.

  I guess my girls were fighting then. We took a 2 week bonding break and have also had their cages about 5 inches apart since then. Hopefully they’ve forgotten the fight.

  Thanks for the info both of you. LEL, you just finished bonding a trio and getting ready to add a 4th — you make it seem so easy. Wish I could get you to bond my trio!

  I just adopted a baby to keep my 1 year old male company. He is not taking it well. He is not attempting to bond. He puts his ears back and lunges at her and she runs to me for dear life before he gets a good hold of her. There is no warning either. He sees her close and just lunges. What should I do?
