How to set up pen?

My bunny, Cookies, lives in a little hutch in the lanai. Now that I am buying a new pen I am putting him in the pen inside during the day and at night he will sleep outside because my mom will freak out! She thinks that bunnies are wild animals and they are in their natural environment when they are outside. Anyways, how do I set it up? I am buying a square litter box and I already have a bowl, 2 water bottles, an igloo, toys, and fleece for the bottom. Is there anything else I should buy? Thanks in advance!

I have bought MANY hay racks and he never uses them. He is sooooooo picky! He even likes his veggies arranged in a specific way.

Im not too sure what your situation is, but since he has to sleep outside what about the weather conditions? And would he be protected from any other animals? I don’t understand why your mom is okay with him being inside during the day but wants him outside at night? Sorry, I’m just a little confused with that.
But yes definitely don’t forget the hay and of course his favorite toys Lulu doesn’t care for hay racks either…she would rather just eat it off the carpet. But if she goes in her cage for whatever reason she will not eat it off the floor but from the rack.

Bunnylady I think cookies is trying to ask about how to build the indoor pen….. right? I’m kinda confused. Well if you are trying to make an indoor pen then I suggest you look in the bunny info section and also if you look in the pictures section they have habitat pics. Another good website for that is the house rabbit society. Now if you are trying to make an outdoor pen then you should think about where you live. Is it hot or cold? What type of weather do you have? (Snow rain sleet etc.) If it’s warm then I would highly recommend keeping him inside unless it is not to bad during the nights. For rain and sleet I would make a heavy duty roof. For snow or if you live in a cold area then I would make his habitat insulated and have LOTS of fleece or blankets down. For predators I would suggest making the habitat off the ground make sure the whatever material you are using is solid. Also I would suggest making some kind of like flap on the front of the cage so that when bad weather or predators come the little flap will cover any slightest the bunny has of the predator and it protects him from the weather. It also depends on your financial situation. If you have the money the BEST thing you could do is make a shed type thing to keep his hutch in. But that’s a if you are asking on how to build a outdoor habitat. Another thing is if you have a library then sometimes they will have a book on rabbit hitches. Hope this helps

With my previous house rabbit he lived inside and he used to escape outside if his pen when I was at school chew on wires… So she doesn’t really like him being inside. He does live in a screened in lanai so I don’t think anything can get in.

Sorry for not being clear. What I am trying to say is that when I am here he will live inside in a pen in the living room. At night and when I am not there he will be outside in his hutch. I am asking how I set up his pen. Like where to put this and were to put that and everything.

I see. Lol, sorry but what’s a lania? I guess I’m confused…Your asking where to put everything inside the hutch, but I would think to just maybe model it after the area he is in while he is inside? Basically its kind of up to you where you want to place things. I would just keep the litter box and food on opposite areas.

Oh! Hey I used to live in Florida and I still have a lot of family down there! Lol we just called itthe patio… Maybe that’s the northerner in us though
Anyways, back to the original issue. (Sorry for such a long tangent). I’d put the litter box on one end, food and water and hay on other end, and maybe put a hidey hole near the good area? Toys will get moved so it doesn’t matter where those go. I hope this helps

Sorry I took so long to reply! I realized very soon after I posted this question that it was kinda… dumb. I appreciate all the help though! I will incorporate every answer in my set up.
