Mordecai had a checkup last Saturday by our regular exotic vet. And he said Mordecai only had one descended testicle. He suggested he get neutered as cryptorchidism increases chances of cancer. Does anyone else have experience with cryptorchid rabbits? Mordecai shows no typical intact buck behavior, but if neutering will lower his chances of cancer, then we’re going to have it done.

Only at a rescue I used to volunteer at – they had several rabbits from a hoarding case who had this. The neuter was a little more complicated than a normal neuter but both rabbits had no complications from the neuter.

Wooly had one undescended testicle. Had the vet fooled too because there was actually a fatty deposit down there (it looked like both boy bits were there). When they went to do the neuter, they realized testicle #2 wasn’t a testicle at all. They ended up having to look for it, so his neuter ended up being a “spay”. At least that is what I was charged for. LOL

Anyway, I have never heard of it increasing the risk of cancer. I was going to have Wooly neutered though anyway, so I never really looked into that. A quick Google search seems to confirm that though, well at least for humans that is.
