So, I have this girlfriend see, and she has had rabbits before, and she saw a bunny. To be fair he totally rivaled Smudge in sweetness as his little lovey self cuddled in our arms quite happily and he is a black with white Rex, almost opposite of Himalayan Smudge. So my girlfriend looked at me and i thought about the boxes of wire cube things I had purchased to make the ultimate in luxury sq footage any bunny had ever seen. i counted and realized I had more than enough to make two cages with perfectly adequate floor and height space, they just would’t be extra king sized. You know where this situation ended….

Anyway, so this went against my initial more intelligent plan which was to, you know, wait til after I neutered Smudge and then get a spayed or neutered rescue and try to bond them.

Now Quick Disclaimer: I am not advising you to do what I did- I have tons of experience introducing new animals, including horses into herds, etc. I personally feel that I have gained enough experience that I trust my ability to assess the situation. Most ppl are not this lucky.

Anyway, here these two still intact boys two hours after we introduced them. Apparently Smudge REALLY wanted a friend and Gus is just a giant sweetheart in general.

We got a lot of better pics where they both look even more relaxed but gmail is pretending they aren’t being sent.

lots of poop every where, mostly lots of poop piles, but nary a single chatter, growl, or lunge. Gus thumped once. They are sad to be in different cages even though they can choose to see each other. (I thought bonding would take a lot longer!). So now my family has doubled. I have Smudge and my dog Junie B, and Jess has a cat and Gus…we will all lived together soon and apartment shopping is going to be brutal!

The couple of photos she got finally came through so I am going to post a few more because they are just so darn cute together!! Thanks for the love to both of them Andhenry and LongEaredLions!!

Here they are looking like almost complete opposites. Until I saw Smudge next to Gus I hadn’t realized just how much he’s grown!

This one looks like it might be a humping photo, it’s not.The Bunnehs relaxed like this for quite a while with Smudge in such a relaxed position. I would have removed Gus but the only slight tension I saw in Smudge was a little stiffness in his ears and just now I can see that his left hind foot is tensed ever so slightly in case he needs to run. But still, so freaking amazing these two!
