My 8 week old Lionhead keeps digging In his food. It’s a mixture of pellets, hay, fruit, etc. I’ve realized that he is getting all the “good stuff” and leaving the pellets. What do I do?

That kind of food is bad for bunnies for that very reason! They pick out the bits they like and lave the rest. They usually aren’t very good nutrition-wise anyway.

What you should do is switch to a pellet food with good nutritional content. Lots of people here use Oxbow, you can find more info on what pellets should contain in the diet section.

Gradually change the food over so bunny doesn’t get a tummy upset. Mix a bit of the new food in, and gradually decrease the old food until he is completely on the new food.

Don’t feel bad rnscott714 with Tessie’s suggestion – I did the same thing as you when I first got my Henry. It wasn’t until I met and became a BBer that I realised I was feeding Henry the wrong type of bunny food. All good now, his diet consists of Oxbow pellets and a variety of veggies each day/night. Better late than never, and Henry is SO much happier/healthier for it! Thanks BBer’s! Cheers rnscott714.

I would just switch over to the good stuff since he’s eating only the bad stuff in the old pellets. Just do away with it altogether.
