So Frappuccino is about 5 lbs, and is about 16-17 inches when he lays down.  I have a 47″ cage and im wondering if i should upgrade. Here is a pic

        http://www.ebay.com/itm/47-Portable-Wire-Bunny-Rabbit-Cage-Guinea-Pig-Ferret-Chinchilla-Hutch-House-/400683029711?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d4a91d4cf

It looks somewhat smaller in the pic so here is where i bought it…

He is not inside that cage all day but he is in there a fair amount of time.. Yes i know my hay rack isnt in there and you might be saying “Omg what a small litter box you have” Well Frappuccino refuses to poop in a bigger one so i got him a smaller one… He can hop about 4 times… Shall i upgrade?

It looks fine to me, as long as he has out of cage time.

I don’t know if this helps, but the minimum for 1 bunny is 2×4 feet. If you have the option to upgrade, even if your cage is big enough, bigger is always better!

Yes, the minimum is 2 x 4 feet, and that is a real minimum. This cage is slightly smaller than that.
If you have the opportunity, I’d definitely upgrade Have you thought about an ex-pen?

Looks pitiful to me. Poor bunny. OP should make your own cage instead of buying those small commercial ones. Even the bottom floor of my cage is more than twice the size of OPs. A rabbit spending too much time in that tiny cage will get aggressive, even with exercise time.

I don’t think it looks pitiful. I think it will work for now, but I would definitely try to upgrade if you can. I did this and upgraded to an x-pen. And lulu seems to love it. I still have her large cage in my room and she will still go in there to lay and use her litter box when she is upstairs. If you are able to upgrade then go for it! Your bunn will like it but may need to adjust to the change

I don’t think it’s too much of an issue if he gets playtime like you said. My Nessie had a cage that size before I built her one and she got to run whenever I was home and able to watch her and she seemed very happy. She’s enjoyed her multi-level upgrade quite a lot though, so if you’re considering upgrading I’m sure he’d appreciate it.

I use all my money toward Frappuccino because my mom never really wanted a rabbit in the first place… I really want to give Frappuccino the best life possible… Can you tell me the range of price the two story cage is? Im pretty sure my mom will pitch in if i ask

I edited out your age – we ask that minors do not post that. I think you should consider doing a cage out of grids…much more affordable and you can configure it the way that works best for you and Frappuccino.

It does look to be an okay size, but definitely on the “minimum” end. Pens are nice in that you can attach them to the existing cage to make the space larger.
